I'm applying for a SETV in HCMC in a few weeks.  They require an onward flight.  My understanding is that the consulate might use Travelport Viewtrip or similar to look up the flight booking to confirm it's real.  They just need the 6 digit booking reference, and your last name, and then the flight info should pop up.

When I check my booking that way, I get an error message.  So I'm worried this could cause problems when applying for me visa.

I booked the Nok Air flight 3 days ago for June 3rd.  I also tried looking up another booking I have with Jetstar Asia on May 29.  No luck.

Any ideas what's wrong here?

What happens if you use your data on the Nok Air website?

I don't know this Travelport website, but  doubt that it will be able to lookup reservation numbers for LCCs (and specific other airlines).

Where did you read or hear that?

I've read on this forum that consulates can check if your ticket is legit by looking it up as I described.  The reason that just having a booking printout may not be enough is because they can easily be faked.  They'll take that printout and look up the booking number with your last name online somewhere.  A legit ticket produces results.  A fake ticket won't.

Does the flight show up on the Airline sites?

Anyway, it does look up on Nok Air just fine.  Didn't think of that.  So if the consulate does want to check the legitimacy, they can probably do it that way too.

The way a system like Travelport Viewtrip works, it will never be able to have 100% coverage of all airlines. It can be expected to work for airlines that are supported by the major airline reservation systems, but I am not in the least surprised that Nok Air is unsupported.

Generally Consulates / Embassies are not bothered to input 200 reservation numbers every day Monday to Friday on various websites.

This is nonsense, do you really believe Thai embassies and consulates go to the effort of verifying every visa applicant's onward travel booking? Staff are too busy in the backroom, snacking and cruising the latest gossip from back home on Line.

Log onto the airlines web site there should be a part were you can check your booking by entering your booking number on your ticket booking. For jet star try the Qantas web site.

Yes in HCMC they do.    If you haven't gotten a visa from the Thai Consulate in HCMC you can't know that  - if you don't have a ticket OUT OF THAILAND within the visa dates, you don't get the visa.  In fact they will direct you to a travel agency down the street to purchse one  -  email confirmations are not, not accepted.  Took hem awhile because my company in the US purchased my ticket out of Thialand, but they verified it with the airlines.  BTW  tey are the friendliest consulate I have ever dealt with

I understand what you are saying, good to know for the future, I can confirm that others don't do what you say HCMC does, don't ask me how I know but let's say "from personal experience".

I did not yet visit HCMC, but I would say just because they checked yours, it does not necessarily mean they check all. The key element they would visually look for initially is the e-ticket number. I.e. it's not a just reservation / booking, and an actual e-ticket number has already been issued.

Furthermore, if it is accompanied by receipt, it helps.

Perhaps yours did not state the e-ticket number on it, which attracted further scrutiny?

But yeah ok, good to know. Thanks for that information.

Very friendly and efficient. Very much by the book. First time I've had the reason for issue of a multi O actually written on the visa .

Regarding whether or not a consulate checks every flight for legitimacy.  It doesn't matter if it is EVERY ticket.  If they check SOME tickets, that means they could check YOUR ticket.  And if they can't confirm it's real, then you got problems.
