webfact
Less than 1 in 3 Americans support U.S. pullout from Iran deal By Chris Kahn U.S. President Donald Trump signs a proclamation declaring his intention to withdraw from the JCPOA Iran nuclear agreement in the Diplomatic Room at the White House in Washington, U.S., May 8, 2018. REUTERS/Jonathan Ernst NEW YORK (Reuters) - Less than one in three Americans agrees with President Donald Trump's decision to pull the United States out of an agreement to limit Iran's nuclear programme, according to a Reuters/Ipsos national opinion poll released on Tuesday. The poll, conducted May 4-8, ahead of the Republican president's announcement to end the deal, found that 29 percent of adults wanted to end the deal with Iran and five other world powers to ease sanctions and limit Iran's nuclear programme. Another 42 percent said the United States should remain in the deal, and the remaining 28 percent said they “don’t know.” Even among those who are registered as Republicans, less than half - 44 percent - advocated ending the U.S. involvement in the deal. Another 28 percent wanted to remain, and the remaining 28 percent said they did not know. Trump, who has long criticized the 2015 agreement for not being tough enough on Iran, announced that he was terminating America's involvement and would impose the "highest level" of economic sanctions against the country. According to the poll, 54 percent of Americans said they “strongly” or “somewhat” supported the Iran nuclear agreement while 27 percent said they were “strongly” or “somewhat” opposed to it. Many Americans also appeared to be concerned about what would happen if Trump pulled the United States out of the deal. Nearly two out of three adults said that if the United States ended its agreement, Iran would likely announce that it was developing nuclear weapons. About half said they thought it would be likely that the United States and Iran “will enter into armed conflict.” The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted online in English throughout the United States. It gathered responses from 1,277 adults, including 492 registered Republicans. It has a credibility interval of 3 percentage points for the entire sample and 5 percentage points for registered Republicans, meaning that the results could vary by that much in either direction. Popular Post ezzra
Most American don't have passport, don't know the names of other counties or where they are situated, ( except Mexico) most american are pretty much clueless to foreign policies and who and what the middle east situation is all about, and oblivious to nuclear threats of a country so far away, so yeah, I'm not surprise.... 4 4 3
Popular Post 55Jay
I'm not commenting on the issue of the poll itself, but there are so many of these polling companies now. My sense is they are hired by "news" companies to gauge the effectiveness of the news company's efforts at public opinion shaping. Message, message, message.....poll to check saturation. Again and again to see that the needle is moving in the direction intended. Are those being polled given a test to gauge their actual knowledge in the subject? How many are merely repeating the opinions they were given on television and the internet? One has to wonder how many of the respondents are Americans who can't locate North Korea on an atlas. And then the news company that hired them leads with 1 IN 3 AMERICANS SUPPORT/BELIEVE/AGREE WITH___________________(fill in the blank), which is opinion shaping and messaging in and of itself. In reality, it's usually 1 or 2 thousand people they disingenuously purport represents all Americans. Edited May 9, 2018 by 55Jay 5

What you just said in plain text, is that most americans are more or less stupid. That is not the fact. There are many americans that are well aware of both the domestic and international problems. That´s why they are careful to support a man that don´t give a shit about the common american guy. That doesn´t matter to Mr. Trump, though. He just walks his own way, like nothing ever happened. 7 1

Only someone with half a brain or less ( bolton and trump I'm talking about you ) could formulate this twaddle posing as politics. Intentionally antagonistic and as usual pandering to lowest common denominator politics. Putin must be licking his lips at the opportunities that will unfold as pompeo, trump and bolton take us back to the power plays of the crusades in the middle ages. 55Jay
There are a lot of power plays going on, economically, politically and sadly, yes, we are still saddled with religion's constant struggle for market share and influence.
Popular Post Proboscis
Even though less than one third of Americans support this nonsense, we now have to accept that because of the voter system in the USA (that gives you just a choice between two people and where even the one with the most votes loses!!!), this one third are now our masters. If you thought that some countries are bad because they are dictatorships, well now you know what it is like to have dictatorship by the uneducated. They think they will get more money and jobs by stopping trade. They even think that somehow everything will be safer if we gang up on Iran, a policy that has not yielded change in how many decades? Somehow they believe that Trump will be able to sign a nuclear deal with North Korea when he has just reneged on probably the best nuclear deal anyone could ever have got from a country that was only recently bent on progressing towards nuclear capability. This deal had probably the most onerous monitoring system ever used on any country. The lesson for any country is - better you get nuclear capability because only then Trump's America will then do a deal. Don't have nuclear capabilty, then Trump will find a reason to sanction you even though you have kept your side of the bargain. Meanwhile in Iran, the extreme element will gain the upper-hand - they are the ones who had said, "Don't sign this deal with the "great satan" because they will just renege." Now that they have turned out to be right and the country has been left with no incentive to behave in any way that is amenable to the USA, can war in one form or another be far away? Meanwhile in the State of Israel, the group of former generals, including former heads of Mossad and Shin Bet, are strongly advocating against Bibi's war-mongering stance. But then, this is not something that Trump's base can even think about. We now have to dance to their tune - God Help US! 6 2

Well less than one in three Americans think that Trump should be POTUS so I would say that the figure is about right. It has taken longer than anyone thought for the American public to have realised the dire consequences of having Trump in the White House but even the most misguided are now beginning to see the light. 4 1 1

Popular Post tonbridgebrit
Okay, so 29% of all Americans support a pull out from Iran. That's because 29% of all Americans are bigots who believe in a war against Islam. But 42% of all Americans do actually know that pulling out of the Iran deal is disastrous. Those 42% who know that pullng out of this deal is disastrous, can you please try and encourage the 29% to change their minds. Them 29%, off-course, they're making America look absurd and ridiculous. In full agreement with that but unfortunately the 29% see the 42% as the enemy thanks to trump's poisonous rhetoric. The vast majority of Americans, who see this pulling out of the Iran Deal as a massive mistake, have about as much chance of convincing the Trump apologists of their folly as I have of winning the Eurovision Song Contest!

Jingthing
The percentage support (which I totally believe) reflects the "trump" hard core true believer base. Yes, deplorable and irredeemable. They'll stick with their "Emperor God" regardless of his position no matter what, till the bitter end. Yes, scary stuff that. It's also worth keeping in mind that the USA is a country where you can register 33 percent support for the most outlandish of idea. Such as Martians are invading via canned soup. spidermike007
I imagine this poll is more or less accurate. This tiny man does not represent the American people, nor it's interests. He represents a group of lobbyists, and has re-populated the swamp with people who compliment him, therefore earning his graces. He has made the world less stable, with one signing of the pen. He does not have a plan. His only concern is maintaining the support of his base. He is insane, unstable, incoherent, fairly dumb, tone deaf, insincere beyond imagination, uninformed, lacks vision, ethics, morality, ability, negotiating skills, good hair, potency, and dignity. The only really good news here, is that he will be gone within 12 months. Mark my words. He will NOT finish out this term, and he will leave office with far, far less cash than when he came into office. His name is radioactive. Nobody wants to have anything to do with his businesses. That is a good thing. He has earned all of this enmity, and hostility. He has worked hard for it, spouting his brand of hatred, racism, and anti immigrant nonsense. He is a circus clown huckster.

God Bless America. God Bless President Donald Trump. He's making America great again after 8 long years of failed leadership. Exactly. And considering how horrific the left bias is of American mainstream media it is a miracle that 33% of Americans support Trump's latest moves on Iran. I can't imagine there has ever been a situation when a countries citizens have been so misled by an evil and politicized media. Even the Jap that crawled out of the Phillippine jungle 35 years after WW2 ended was more informed about his times than modern day liberal Americans are about the present world political situation. Just what proof do people need? Trump is a master of the deal. He understands the concept of Quid pro quo. Time to start listening to the guy - who cares what Don Lemon thinks about it all? Play nice and get rewarded - it's a simple concept that these nutty dictators understand. Not just airlift the enemies billions of dollars of used banknotes and then a few days later let navy sailors get publicly humiliated by the guys you just paid billions to. That is not diplomacy, it is lunacy. 1 1

Now try to construct a factual rebuttal of the claims in the video . The US state dept supported the treaty , the majority of US citizens supported it , every other G7 nation supported it , yet Trump must be right , why ? PS; The Chinese , Russians and Brits etc are hardly wishy washy Liberals and rarely find common cause so your claims of ' biased news ' or ' failed ideology ' are the real garbage. Policies designed and executed purely to appease ones minority fan base will not make 'America ' great again , the very opposite in fact. No amount of whining about 'Fake news ' will change that , history will not be kind to either Trump or his utterly deluded syncophants.
