Lee Cameron went to Thailand for cheap surgery, but was left with a serious infection. (9NEWS)

Lee Cameron says she will regret the decision to have cosmetic surgery in Thailand for the rest of her life.

The 48-year-old Melbourne woman booked a breast augmentation via a cosmetic tourism agency in August last year.

She says she was promised cheap surgery by world class doctors in luxury accommodation.

"It was about $7000 and I was quoted $27,000 here in Australia," Ms Cameron said.

Cosmetic surgery probably won't help this girl...a gastric job would have been better. What was she expecting...Maggie Q? Far too much to fix on her. So many people are so unrealistic on so many fronts now.

The fact that people believe they need to have cosmetic surgery in the first place says more about the lack of self esteem that seems to be endemic in society overall.  Somehow the majority seems to have bought the Madison Avenue advertising glitz that presents an image of human perfection that virtually no one can aspire to.  They buy 'the lie.'  How incredibly sad that so many people can't simply find self-acceptance.

But here there is clear evidence that it´s needed, right?

Gym membership cheaper and no invasive procedure.

That is true.

But you only get fat,  most of the time by being lazy

so gym don't work for most,  as lazy mode comes back after a  few months at the gym.

Have a total life style change,  then gym can work with diet. :jap:

There are a lot of highly skilled surgeons of all kinds in Thailand, many who have trained in America and England.  She didn't do her research and got a cheap bodged job. You get what you pay for !!

That in itself should have started the alarm bells ringing.

We have all read about so called plastic surgeons who have produced disasters.

If you want to cut risks then log on to the website of 'Society of aesthetic plastic surgeons of Thailand' You will find a comprehensive list of all properly qualified plastic surgeons under their jurisdiction together with their educational history.

That’s about as accurate as the rest of your post... old saying “Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt”!!!

Sick and tired of these idiots coming here to save on $'s on cosmetic surgery while having a holiday at the same time, at the end of the day its the public back in Oz who pay for this through Medicare.

Time to tell these idiots if you elect to have cosmetic surgery overseas and the sheet hits the fan, and you return to Australia to have things sorted, its at your expense, not the paying public !

I am left scratching my head. I have asked at least a dozen ladies how much they paid for

their augmentation surgery. The prices ranged from a low of 40,000 baht to a high of 80,000.

Nobody quoted a price of 200,000 baht. That is some Farang mark-up.

As for the 27,000 AUD referenced for surgery in Australia. That price is in excess of prices in the USA.

BTW. All the surgical work I reviewed doing investigative research was top shelf.

Yes my Thai wife says for about 60,000 baht she can get breast implants, with my reply being, more than a handful is a waste honey, besides I like the school girl size, actually I will rephrase that, the college/uni size.

Had a Thai girlfriend back in Oz over a decade ago, she was charged $7,000 back then and it was done in his clinic, I remember she shopped around, if she did it in a hospital it was double plus back then, and she did need them as her titts were all milked out from her two little girls, i.e. sagging like a female apes

Good job on her breasts, gave her confidence and I did enjoyed them while the relationship lasted 555

"My nipples seemed to be way higher than where they should be," she said.

"The surgeon said to me, 'that's ok, you're old, they're going to drop'."

You've got to love these 'world class' cosmetic surgeons ! :giggle:

At least the nipples were not mounted on the shoulders so yes the surgeon have right - they will drop...

Surely she must've heard of the old saying if it sounds too good to be true it usually is:unsure:
what did she honestly expect for $7000?

If there's one thing i've noticed about the Australian medical industry, it's that they will report every single instance they can of something going wrong in Thailand in order to protect their outrageously overpriced services. But tell me this: how many people will go into a Melbourne hospital and come out with a serious infection, like golden staff?? i've met quite a few...... Ahhh! but they don't want to talk about that, do they?
