BANGKOK, 21 May 2018 (NNT) - Analysts remain bullish about the Thai stock market, despite a drop in the Investor Confidence Index (ICI) due to global economic concerns.

Chairman of the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizers (FETCO), Voravan Tarapoom, said its ICI for the next three months dropped from 120.17 into the range of 80 - 120. She cited recent capital outflows, due to the monetary policy of the United States, as the principle reason for investor concern. However, she remained bullish on the country's capital markets, due to confidence in business profits and domestic economic growth.

Meanwhile, CEO of TISCO Securities and President of the Investment Analysts Association, Paiboon Narintrangkul, expects volatility in the Thai stock market for the next few months, due to the recent interest rate hike by the US Federal Reserve. However, he noted that the difference between short and long term yields were below 100 basis points for US Treasuries, while investors can expect a larger difference for Thai yields.

Therefore, this advantage, coupled with a national economic growth rate of over four percent, are reasons to believe that capital will flow back into Thai markets and drive the SET Composite Index to 1,850 points this year and between 1,950 and 2,000 points the following year.
