Recovering from Giardia

Featured Replies

I just wanted to start another topic on Giardia. I got Giardia and I've taken the antibiotic treatment of Flagyl 400mg 3 times a day for 7 days, and dispite feeling better than I was when this first started, my gut/tummy still feels off, and is making gurgling noises every now and then. But no diarrhoea (diarrhoea stopped before taking the antibiotic actually)

I'm curious to know what other people's experience has been with Giardia and the recovery after treatment?

Also I'm tempted to try a natural treatment for parasites just in case I still have some that could be causing me issues, the Wormwood supplement seems most powerful, but I also don't want to waste my money.

So yeah if anyone has had Giardia or knows someone who's had it, what was there recovery like?

I believe I had it about 18 months or so ago, never got tested but had all the classic symptoms. Didn't take antibiotics at all, just standard immodium and Smecta powder. It took about two months to clean up on it's own, but never had a problem since. I wish I went the Flagyl route and knock it out quickly.

Flagyl is some pretty powerful stuff, in all likelihood it's killed off the parasite. I'm currently finishing up a round of Flagyl and Cipro for an infection and can't wait to be finished. Nasty, nasty stuff - but works.
