January 30, 200719 yr Look at the England soccer prima-donnas in the world cup. They so underfperformed under a Swedish Manager it was embarrasing. However the England cricket team under a pseudo Englishman ( a Zimbabwean given British nationality quicker then anybody else )has managed to take English Cricket to depths only Jules Verne could of imagined. Can you Oz members out there even consider whether or not your National team could have anything other than an Australian? With foreigners in charge of the National team how passionate can they possibly be , imparting their passion, or in Fletcher's case gross incompetance, on to the team memebrs. Well folks what are you thoughts - should the English Cricket Team have a new ENGLISH manager or do you think they will play as badly whoever is in charge ?
January 30, 200719 yr at the end of the day you can only coach/manage what you've got, and england don't have an attack that can bowl a team out twice at test level when playing abroad, harmison doesn't travel, great bowler when at home though, flintoff is well below his best, monty has potential and the rest are no better than average. Admittadly this tour has been a total embarrasment but up till then Fletchers record wasn't that bad. I think keep fletcher till after the world cup then appoint the best qualified man for the job regardless of nationality.
January 30, 200719 yr isnt it time for football ,cricket and rugby to get democratic?........i.e. vote for next england coach....by supporters and fans.2 /4 year contracts........then supporters willhave to get behind the manager and team .........all for one one for all.............victory!
January 30, 200719 yr Author Dee123, You mean after one is elected democratically we could then have a coup and England would then have a military/political influenced team like Iran ? Mind you might not be too bad after all if they don't perform we could court martial them ! Seriously though although Fletchers record you say was not too bad the fact is on the world stage it was not good either but I was really trying to gather peoples comments as to whether any Manager should be a National of that Country or not?
