Rule Change?

Featured Replies

This is sort of a moderation issue (verboten subject), but I'll ask here anyway as it's a general question :D

Recently I've noticed a number of posts which have had links removed or edited (spaces inserted) so they are no longer live.

Please clarify the rules on the use of links in posts, I understand the P2P ban (which is clearly indicated in the forum rules) but I can't find any other directives about linking to other sites or news sources.

I've thought for a while that the forum rules are getting a little convoluted, maybe time for a re-write.

Of course I could just be going mad :o

Hi crossy,

This is the part of the forum rules that apply..

7) Spam, flooding, commercial or for-profit advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and similar solicitations are also inappropriate and not allowed on thaivisa.com. Any member who might violate this prohibition will be banned from these forums and this site. Membership is at the will of thaivisa.com. Our contracts with our advertisers prohibit comments with regard to advertisements which appear on our forums. Such comments should not be posted and will be removed. Please don't drop promotional urls, signature files, or specifics that would lead people to your site.

totster :o

So based on this it is OK to post a link to another site if there is no business or profit motive?

Use it with caution! If a link is directly related to the post you are just writing, and the site is informative, on topic and not super commercial, you are welcome to do limited linking. We reserve the right to delete links that could indicate spam.

We have a serious SPAM problem with people just dropping links to get free traffic to their sites or their friends sites. Please contact sales[at]thaivisa.com if you want to promote your site.

We reserve the right to remove links from the forum.
