Gettinng a mobile phone in Thailand with a local Sim. Plus! Can I get Gillette Fusion blades there?

I thought I'd ask both questions here instead of separate threads

I want to get a semi decent second phone when I get to Bangkok. Maybe something like a Samsung A3 with a local SIM.

Can this be done at BKK airport or around Khaosan easily enough for a decent price? Is there more than one operator in Thailand or a monopoly?

Also - I can live without most European toiletries and use the local equivalents. Except! My shaving blades ?

How easy is it to get Gillette Fusion blades there? (not just Bangkok, but Thailand in general). Last info I can find is that the latest Gillette blades that were there are the Mach 3s. Has this changed?

Thanks

Second hand,get new

I read that the OP wants a second phone (to the one he brings from home)?

Samsung A3 with local SIM: about everywhere but not at the airport.

Around KSR: maybe a Bangkok local can point to.

No monopoly. Three major providers (AIS, DTAC, True).

Gillette Fusion: every major supermarket/drugstore chain.

Expensive but that shouldn't surprise (2 for 400 or so).

BigC, 4 for 607:

How long will you be here? I would at least take some in checked baggage for a start.

Thanks for the reply. If I love it I'll stay 3 month+ with flight border runs after to refresh my Visa if needed

Electronics here in Thailand usually cost slightly more than in Europe, so the phone should be somewhere in the 7000-8000 THB range.

A plain SIM card costs 49 THB

Get a phone you can put skype on.   Shaving?  hair growth is a lot faster in hot climate, you will find what you want wears out a lot faster ,then you start scraping to shave, the single blades or disposables are good, just get the hang of them.  Shaving cream in tubes, cannot get here,so come stocked up

In tubes?

You mean in cans like Gillette shaving gel for example?

No,you can buy that here, tubes, shaving cream, bring a brush too, shaving here is a lot diff than back 'ome, preparation etc. or you just do not get a good shave...the shaving gel is horrible stuff, just smear

The A3 seems very little known/sold in Thailand.

Maybe I have a blackout but I can't find it on www.lazada.co.th.

And if they don't have it you will have a hard time to find one in shops.

As others wrote: the J7 models (for the Asian market) are good value for money.

The J7+ (best in the class) is now down to 7650 (4 GB RAM. 32 GB ROM, FullHD Amoled, Octa Core 2.39GHz). The other J7 cheaper of course.

No shortage of Fusion. Even our midsize Tesco has plenty
