Ive booked a holiday to UK with my 6 year old son who has both Thai/British Passports and we leave in just over 2 weeks.

Luckily i noticed recently that his Thai passport has expired, didnt think this would be an issue as it should be easy to renew. Wrong..., unfortunately a member of my wifes family has lost the family Tabien baan which i understand is needed to renew the passport and im now starting to panic.

Does anybody know whether i can renew his passport without it?, and if not how easy is it for them to replace the tabien baan?. The info i'm getting from the wife seems a little dubious and unclear.

Also if push comes to shove can i not just take him out and back on his British passport and would this present any serious problems?

Many thanks in advance

Recently, we can renew the passport with ID card only, not required Tabien Baan.

But for your son under 7, he won't have ID card, requirement would be birth certificate. You and your wife have to show up there with ID card or Passport.

*Tabien Baan, could be renew easily by the Master of the house.

If your wife family could not do that, your wife could go to any municipality to proceed request for proof of resident for your son. (in Thai call คัดทะเบียนบ้าน) There will be a paper with information of your son only, not other member in the house.

Just also want know whether a Thai citizen must leave and enter Thailand by using his/her Thai passport.

If the UK passport, for example, does not have a Thai entry stamp then this cannot be used to exit Thailand. This means the Thai passport must be used.
