I have tried two micrphones and have tried to use MS Sound Recorder and my Creative software to record my voice but no luck. I want to save my voice in .wav or MP3 files.

What could I be doing wrong?

There is also a "20dB Gain" check box in the "Advanced" section of "Recording Controls", check it to get more volume (with it unchecked you may not hear any recorded sound at all).

How do I enable the microphone in my sound devices properties? This may be the problem.

I also heard that Creative software is supposed to acknowledge that you have a mic plugged in but I have not seen that happen.

I checked my 20db Gain and it is already checked.

Help! :o

Remember, the MS Sound Recorder only activates the microphone while recording (The red button).

Just blowing into the mic while not recording, and you wont hear squat !

Open 'volume control'

Select 'recording' in properties

Make sure the microphone 'select' box is checked.

Note: You can only select one input at once, also turn the level right up.

Did it. Still nothing.

Dumb question, you are actually plugged into the microphone input arn't you? and the mic doesn't have a 'mute' switch that's in the muted position?

I know, but someone's got to ask :o
