BeIN/True loses EPL rights for Thailand

Featured Replies

This needs to be more widely seen than on Tech News.

BeIN (and therefore TrueVisions) has lost the rights to broadcast the English Premier League in Thailand from 2019. I'm assuming this means that coverage will be free but who knows what the quality will be like.

Does this mean that FB goes paid, or do they make those streams available for free?

Amazon is also going big time into sports broadcasting by the way.

Great...

Just what Thailand needs. More Thais with their faces stuck in Facebook all day and night, instead of actually working, living their lives, doing something/anything productive.

I'm taking this as meaning that no TV channel here in LOS (terrestrial, satellite or cable) will be showing EPL games from the start of the 2019 season, and that these games will only be viewable online by those with FB accounts. So it looks like bye-bye EPL as far as I am concerned since I have absolutely no intention of reactivating my FB account solely for this purpose.

And it also looks increasingly likely that I'll be staring at a blank TV screen on a 24/7 basis from then since I'm blowed if I'll be renewing my Truevisions Platinum subscription if they're going to replace the footie with yet more bloody BWF badminton, basketball, tennis & golf! ?

EDIT: Have just seen your separate thread on this in the Football/Soccer forum, which would appear to indicate that this doomsday scenario is unlikely to come about, thank goodness!

There will always be IPTV who don't give a toss about who actually own the rights.

If you're only interested in the footy you can get it as a stand alone package for Baht 199 (+VAT) per month.
