If she is a dementia manager, she has my absolute utmost respect. I cared for my mother full time for several years of dementia, before coming out here. It was terrible. If she chooses to do it as a vocation then she must be some sort of angel!

They are angels! We cared for my wife's mother in our home for 6 years with live in help but when she became a greater danger to herself we were forced to find nearby dementia care for her. We found a facility attached to Sriphat Medical Center in Chiang Mai near our home. From the Managers to the doctors, nurses and aides they all possessed a special gift of caring that we were so so grateful for.

Though my MIL has passed, we still keep in touch with these lovely, lovely people. Yeah, he's a lucky guy.

Hard to say what the future holds for these two but I wish them the best. They do appear to be pretty happy with each other judging by the picture.

Actually she is not a qualified nurse she is a dementia manager, she does not yet work in Australia (but she has plans to) having taking a holiday in the UK from working in Chiang Mai for the last 2 years although before Chiang Mai she did work in Australia. She is one of the nicest girls you could wish to meet and he is a lucky guy.

agree. Seems auspicios - she she has a good job experience speaks English and has been in the Uk and Oz. The culture shock will be smaller for both.

Best of luck for them

Cheap Shot Indeed. But typical of a small minority of embittered Australians on this forum. Thankfully they are a minority.

A dementia manager, with the state the UK  NHS is in they, would welcome her with open arms, and with the SE Asian culture of caring for older people, she would do well, go for it.

Fair play. I hope they'll be happy together for many years.

Far too many cynical morons on here. Maybe time up in Thailand for a few...??

that is good information !

I truly do not understand why the news papers now start prying into the private lives of people involved in bringing this mission to a good end, as well as the lives of those rescued.

Easy picking for newspaper copy writers probably.
No respect for common day needs of people: privacy and opportunity to work and study.
Please do go to the next news, do a journalists' job and
do not turn a historic event into a continuous media show potentially ruining lives of those put in the spot light.

I fully respect and endorse the intent of your post.  Sadly I think we will both be disappointed if we expect that to happen

It is becoming already sad, so we will not be disappointed.
But, to grow a forest, one has to plant a seed, at least I said it, and now we are already two  three . ?

Settling in Australia may be a good (compromise) choice for them both.

Whatever their choice, we should all wish them well.

This man and his mate (whoever he chooses) will not have any visa issues in Thailand or the UK or anywhere in the world IMO.  He has earned the right to speak directly to the highest government officials and be extended international courtesy  at the highest levels of all governments IMO. This is one man every country wants to welcome with open arms.

Nope, I haven’t been ripped off  by any Thai woman as most farang tends to be because I know how they play the game.. Fyi with money you can’t buy  love and  friendship, as far as I know this kind of dodgy business only happens in Thailand and in Asia as a whole, even then they cannot be trusted, you got to keep the money tap running otherwise you’ll be going back to the gutter !

Been here 10 years. Never had a relationship that revolved around money or had to play a game as you say. Check two things in your life:

1. Age

2. Your partners education level

If these are dramatically different, it would offer an explanation of why you are playing a game.

Same rules apply in non-asian countries. Don’t be a dummy

Yes been here nearly 8 years, most ladies here in Pattaya are from the villages with little or no education. Their main aim is to score a rich man and aquire from him as much money as possible before there departure. I have been hit on so many times for money, I now just give up, play golf, fish, and enjoy my money. Old men like me, have little but no chance of finding a decent lady to form a relationship for the rest of my life. Im HAPPY with that.

I manage dementia too  but I don't think that makes me a nurse,  Errrr...... now i forgot what I wanted to say.

Ah yes ! I like a hot pastrami sandwich  with mustard please.

Given she is working as a nurse in Australia, I would imagine she could get similar work in the UK, if she so desired.

You are a real doom and gloom merchant aren't you ?  Not everyone that comes to Thailand is a sex tourist.

As she appears to have freedom of movement they can meet in many places on a regular basis

Oh dear. I made a couple of puns, based on the young lady's name (Amp), and people didn't get it.

Maybe I should have posted in the Electrical Forum.

By the way, johncat1, I did not mention or imply sex tourism - that was your own invention.

A off topic inflammatory post and replies to it have been removed.

To bad they didn't meet for the first time during the rescue.  Quite a coincidence that she was in Chiang Rai for just a few days and that he was called into help.   How old is she?

That’s only until she gets the Amp and blow her fuse as most Thai women tend to do for frivolous reasons then you better put together those millions to be dispatched to her family and whoever it may join in, surely he’d have no chance  to find a decent woman back in the cave otherwise..

I managed to decipher the first part of your waffle. In my experience over the years not all Thai women blow a fuse for frivolous reasons. So you are probably just venting your past hurts in the only way you can by lashing out. Quite a childish action really don’t you think? Well no, if you did think then you wouldn’t have posted would you.

Anyway,  that was only part of your drivel that I managed to figure out. The rest however was just a jumble of words thrown together. Much like a child learning to talk really, they and their parents are only ones who understsnd what they are saying.

I personally think Richard and Amp look a lovely couple. He doesn’t appear to be the bar stool type and she is an educated woman, so I’m sure they have intelligent conversations. Maybe you should try intelligent comments from one to time. Then again, maybe your just a grumpy lonely person who takes joy in trying to find the bad in every good situation.

Now if you are going to jump onto your keyboard to reply to me, think first , then stop and put your keyboard away, ok.

When we come we don’t want to leave. UK is a sh1t hole

Adds the romantic dimension to what is obviously going to become a film about the dramatic cave rescue at Thom

Luang!  Good luck to them !
