"Dangerous" British teacher arrested on child porn charges in Bangkok

Police in Bangkok have arrested a British man who is teaching at a language institute in Bang Khae.

 

Obscene images of children were found on his computer and phone.

 

Police allege he was advertising and sharing the images on Craigslist.

 

Anthony James Bennett denies the charges saying the porn was just for his personal gratification.

 

He is in custody at Bang Khun Thian police station following the serving of a search and arrest warrant in Phasi Charoen district yesterday.

 

DSI and CSD police became suspicious after monitoring Craigslist. They say Mr Bennett put out an advert looking for partners who were women who had twelve year old children.

 

 

They sent a sting email and in reply were sent indecent images of children, they said.

 

They called him a potentially dangerous individual who needed to be stopped.

 

This led to the issuing of the Thanyaburi court warrants and the raid on the suspect's room in Mind Mansion, Soi Therdthai 66, Phasi Charoen, Bangkok.

 

Taken into evidence was a computer notebook and a phone. Police said there were a lot of indecent images of children on both.

 

Mr Bennett denied advertising and spreading child pornography saying the images were for his personal use.

 

Police said that the suspect is a language teacher in Bang Khae.

 

Thai Rath said that the website involved was "carcklist.co.th" that we understand means Craigslist.

So even his defence is a lie. I really have no time for people like this. I visit lots of people in lots of prisons here, but people like this make my skin crawl, and he most definitely will not get any help from me. I dont care how long they lock him up for, it isn't long enough.

I am sick of hearing about these type of people. The punishment they get in my opinion is never hard enough.

I think you can guess yourself what I think should happen to them.

The human instinct is to protect and nurture children. These people are sick and I have never heard of anyone of them being cured by head doctors.

He shouldn't be in custody!  Six feet under is where he should be!

 

The only downside of living in Thailand; surrounded by guys like this.  Before anybody posts that there are guys like this in every corner of the world - Yes! That is so.  But, here in Thailand, it's in your face 24/7; makes me want to puke!

Yeah, I have helped schools and police here in Thailand 5 times so far with foreigner teachers acting strangely... 3 of them turned out to be pedos (convicted in their home countries) and 2 were using drugs... So if they are not still in prisons then they are deported and black listed for life!

Seriously, people like that should be deprived the right to travel the world and I firmly believe that if you are convicted and have served time for sex/violent crimes then you should also not be allowed a passport!

The Australian government have already implemented these rules regarding these sicko pos, reading just recently a huge number of the sick pos have been banned from leaving the country, and don't try entering Oz now as there checking incoming passengers phones and computers for this stuff, few have been sent packing already back to where they come from,lets hope more governments around the world start taking the exact same approach to these disgusting, lowlife POS.

craigslist is a dodgy site too, whenever i've been on it, it just seems like a hotbed of criminality from motorbike sales scams to boiler rooms hiring staff and selling leads, it seems every other advert is pretty dubious.

 

and this freak really shouldn't be allowed to advertise for a single woman with a 12 year old children, that should have been moderated by craiglist and not posted IMO

Thailand is targeting the right person on this crime. He is definitely a suspect as he is having child porn on the phone. He is doing harm to the good teachers coming for right service

 

Why not all English teachers form an association and register the qualified teachers with minimum decent pay and help Thailand to recruit good teachers ?
