The director-general of the national marine department has ordered the salvage of  ‘Phoenix’ – the tour boat that sank on July 6 resulting in the drowning of 47 Chinese passengers. The investigation into official negligence is also being conducted.

Director general of the Marine Department Jiru Wisanjit says, “We issued an order for the ‘Phoenix’ boat owner on to organise the salvage of the boat on July 7, the day after after the boat sank. The boat is important evidence.”

“The owner signed an acknowledgement of the order on July 11. They have 20 days after July 11 to salvage the boat.”

Seriosly thailand. You throw the owner in jail a 26 year old  woman and then you ask her to salvage the boat . She has 20 days.

good luck with that.

That boat might float but not with her at the helm.

It's hard not to notice particularly in times of crisis, that all sorts of numpties bloated with a sense of self importance have to rush in and make public statements on the issue and demonstrate a great ability for foot in mouth disease.

Police Chiefs, Governors, Vice governors, Navy Admirals, Tourism Ministers they all have a go.

"Director General" -- seems everyone is or wants to be a "general" here....

Must be something in the psyche about that...

When this Phoenix raises from the soggy ashes is going to be patched up and put into service or turned into the Phoenix submarine.
