A high society businesswoman with interests amounting to hundreds of millions of baht has been found battered to death with a baseball bat at a top Bangkok hotel.

She is believed to have been having a secret affair with an employee who has fled in her Mercedes Benz. A warrant for the arrest of the man has been issued while he is believed to be at a casino in Cambodia.

The dead woman is a relative of a well known Thai movie star and actor.

Metropolitan police chief Pol Lt Gen Charnthep Sesawech went with Chok Chai police chiefs and forensics teams to the scene of the crime at a hotel in Soi Pradit Manutham in the Lat Prao area.

In Room 2702 on the seventh floor they found Thitima "Cherry" Tangwiboonpanich on her knees by the bed. She was dressed in a green nightdress.

She had been hit by a hard object in the right temple and had a skull fracture. Nearby was a bloodstained baseball bat.

The assailant fled in the victim's E220 Mercedes Benz.

Cherry's interests in real estate, transport and three gas stations amounted to hundreds of millions of baht.

She is a relative of actor "Bank" Artit Tangwiboonpanich.

Police said that she had rented the room at the hotel for a month with a man who was in charge of accounts and holdings in her companies.

The couple were carrying on an affair. When relatives received no contact with Cherry they sounded the alarm.

CCTV showed the couple enter the room at 10.41pm on Thursday night. At 1.55am on Friday morning the man believed responsible for the murder left alone.

He is 33 year old Assaya "Go" Chayapha. The Rachada court has issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of murder.

Heavily into gambling he is believed to have fled to a casino in a neighboring country to the east of Thailand, said Daily News in a clear reference to Cambodia.

Investigations continue in the high profile case.

After a busy old day what a great way to relax and have a little flutter.probably demanding money like a pimp for his gambling and got told by her no more.the small Thai minds are very predictable.

Reminds me of a question I had been thinking of asking here...

Anyone know of local amateur baseball or softball leagues in Thailand?

Poor skills in the english language lead to two people dying instead of one......

Tell me again why there are baseball bats in Thailand?

She obviously made better business decisions than relationship judgements

A high society woman is not a High-so.  The latter is a very insulting description because it means someone who pretends to be high society or high class when they are not. The admin writer seems pretty ignorant when he misuses this term.

Hmm, i looked this up and first 3 links just said Hi-so is slang for High society. Yes, it could be used as an label for someone who pretends to be posh, but generally just means someone who is rich, or acts like it.  That is what the wife says as well. So if you are rich and powerful, you are a hi-so. Common usage. Whether a High society person likes the title or not doesn't matter.

The question is, how much money, and for how long, and how much influence do you need to become hi-so? Three pieces of string ........

Your comments are fairly predictable as well.

I think you should consider a new user name.

The same man who is a heavy gambler, sounds like she found out hes

been helping himself to her cash ,not a good idea to have a heavy

gambler taking care of your finances.

RIP

yeah. that is what I thought at first.  The modifier or conjunctive clause is written ambiguously, almost as bad probably as my less than correct use of english grammar desctiptive words!

Maybe she wanted her money back? Charge him millions of baht for "long time"?
