The other day I decided to cycle along the new motorway as it appears to be completed along many of the sections around Pattaya. I entered where the new bridge crosses Horshoe point road and headed south intending to check out the new junction where the main motorway branches off to end on Sukhumvit road near the marina. 

 

All was was good and finished and the new junction looked good, being sign posted Jomtien beach. Also signs stating pay toll in 1KM. This is the only entry/exit in the south Pattaya area. 

 

Anyhow, as I crossed the junction bridge I could see ahead that there was a section not completed. I was not totally surprised, but when I reached the end of the completed road, this section was not even started, and appears to be about 500 meters in length. This really surprised me because all of the road from the other side of this break is complete or very near to completion.

 

looks like there may be some land issue affecting this stretch which will definitely mean the Pattaya section of the motorway will be inaccessible for the foreseeable future. 

 

Anybody have any info on this, or any projected completion/opening dates for the Motorway?

The have talk about springtime next year. But delay is normal, it depends of many reasons most common is money and weather issues. So keep on biking.

Maybe to stop early usage by Thais.  You may have noticed they don’t pay attention to signs.

I think the completion date for the whole stretch is 2020 - as per previous news articles.

Remember they will need to put toll booths in somewhere?

From the air there are several bridges not completed closer to the airport.

I think one year plus.

It looks pretty good though should cut down the time quite a bit to the airport.

 

PS:  At least they seem to be trying to make things better.  Was in Chiang Mai recently and they have made a lot of improvements on the super highway and some other new roads. Could be much better I know but at least something.
