The foundation stone was placed by Police Lieutenant General Suwat Tum-rong-sri-skul, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, for a new building being built to replace the old one and to enhance capacity in providing services, especially for foreigners.

The new building is being built with a budget from the Royal Thai Police of 12.1 million baht. The building will have three levels for which the 1st and 2nd floor will be immigration offices while the 3rd floor will be used as a conference room.

Commenting on the strict checking measures of foreign teachers’ qualifications, the Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau Police Lieutenant General Suwat Tum-rong-sri-skul said it is a good way to assure high educational standards for the country. Regarding the verification of the foreign teachers’ requirements to hold at least a Bachelors Degree, the Police commissioner said the officials have sent around 1,000 sample documents out of 6,000 to be verified in their respective institutes. Among these 65 papers were reported to be fake. This led to even more strict measures for officials he stressed.
