If he was born in Ireland then yes he is Irish,,, as you say irrelevant of the name

However if he just possesses an Irish passport then I would have to disagree... he's a native of his birth country

it's just he's attained an Irish passport!

What evidence do you have to claim he “attained” his passport.

Not that it would make any difference to his nationality, that is...passport equals nationality.

The shopkeeper girl was wicked cute. That guy looked like a total plonker.

The girl in the photo is not the shopkeeper - she is an actress participating in a reenactment.

I fail to see why calling it the way it is can be bigotry or intolerance.  Nothing racist at all just a simple fact that an Arab born in Ireland of Arabic parents will not be considered Irish no more than if an Arab born to Arab parents in Thailand would be considered Thai.  Would an Irishman born to Irish parents be considered a Saudi if born there whilst his parents were expats?  Think African-Americans - many generations down the line they consider themselves to be classified something other than just American.  What about the Indian community here - many generations  and still consider themselves as Indians - damn sure the Thais do.

Living here and being used to being racially abused on a daily basis doesn't bother me or my western friends one bit, it is simply the way it is.  Suck it up.

Well said sir!!Totally agree!

Not if neither of the parents are Thai.

My friends wife's grandfather was Chinese, he migrated to Thailand married a Thai lady and had a family.

Is my friends wife Chinese, Thai or Irish?

This thread.

Nonsense.

No such report of a death threat fatwa is mentioned in this story.

You are letting your prejudice cloud your ability to read.

The headline says 'Brit' .However having a British Passport is no guarantee of British Citizenship as some people claim. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/boy-passport-home-office-belgium-holiday-blocked-mother-a8522211.html

His passport has not been revoked.

Therefore

British passport holder equals British citizen.

Your prejudices are blinding you to the meaning of words.

Look up revoked.

The guy stole an item from a shop , that may be normal behavior in the UK , where anything not nailed down gets stolen , but its a different matter in Thailand .

If you take anything that isnt yours, you will get punished

You might be punished or maybe not? Depends who you are and where you come from!
