Senior judge 'did not resign over viral video clip'

A SENIOR Court of Appeals judge tendered his resignation after a video clip of him threatening his ex-wife that he will reveal their intimate photos if she did not reconcile with him went viral and became a subject of mainstream media reports.
 

A source at the court confirmed yesterday that the judge resigned last week. 

 

In the video, the judge’s wife apparently rebuffs his attempts even after he allegedly threatens to reveal the intimate photo on his cell phone to convince her.

 

In his resignation letter, the unnamed judge cites his long service and a desire to leave on his own accord, which was agreed to by the Supreme Court president on September 7, the source said. There was no investigation, accusation or disciplinary punishment involved. 

 

Following normal procedure, the resigning judge’s name will be forwarded for His Majesty the King’s approval and the matter will be published in the Royal Gazette. 

 

Mutual agreement

 

According to a police source, the judge’s resignation had nothing to do with his conversation with his ex-wife in a parking lot, which was captured in a video clip and led to criticism that his actions were inappropriate for someone occupying the position of a senior judge. 

 

Police officers at the Bang Phong Phang precinct said the judge and his ex-wife gone to the station on August 11 to file a report with the police, not an official complaint. The unnamed judge also agreed to delete the photos in question. 

 

A police source said that as part of the settlement, the woman returned the title deeds to land in Chiang Mai to the judge, and both sides agreed not to harass one another. They also agreed that the person who violates the agreement will have to pay Bt5 million in compensation to the other.

 

Court judges and justice officials are normally allowed to work until the age of 65, while senior judges can continue serving until 70 if they pass a performance assessment.

Me thinks he doth protest too much!

 

C'mom, it is clear that the guy resigned because of the incident; does anyone really believe otherwise? Anyone?

 

And, respectfully, do you think that it is possible to reconcile with your wife under the threat of blackmail? Is this the mental process of a judge? It would explain a lot.

 

This is not the first time I have seen stories in the Kingdom where (usually) men threaten to expose something to try to force (usually) women to get back together with them. Respectfully, that kind of thing does not work and you'd have better luck inviting a scorpion to your bed.

 

I guess that this is one of those things from Thailand that I know occurs but will never truly understand....

We can only hope he used better judgment at work than he did at home, but few on this forum hold the judicial system in any great esteem.

Clearly blackmail is something not in this "Judges" knowledge book.  Say it all about the system and people that supported him really.  It begs the question as to what skills or tactics he used to become a prominent Thai Judge in the first place.

They don't mention his age anywhere, they only mentioned the usual retirement age. This is a big red flag to me.

 

Something a little unusual happens in Thailand, judges can be appointed when they are just 25 years old, then they will start working their way up the ladder..

 

There are plenty of very young judges with just a couple of years experience out of university, some of these will no doubt be promoted.

 

There is a very good chance that this appeals court judge could be a reasonably young man, this is why I asked about his age at the start of this thread.

Why would you focus on "old" in a comment that was clearly intended to be a joke (rhetorical question)? Lighten up dude. Your lack of humor notwithstanding, the photo posted with the story is blurred, but one can easily see that he's balding with light colored hair on the sides of his head, which seems a pretty good indicator that he is not a young Thai man. Moreover, I wouldn't want to see his pics/vid regardless of his age. Even if his wife was smoking hot, just knowing what kind of pathetic loser he is would significantly detract from the pleasure I might otherwise derive from seeing a hot chic get banged.
