A 56 year old parachutist from the US was left with hip and leg injuries after a jump went wrong in Korat yesterday.

Named only as Marino he was dumped into a corn field in the Klong Phai area of Khao Sadao, Si Khiw after encountering unexpected winds.

He was with another parachutist who was not hurt.

Huk 31 rescue services were on the scene and got the victim to Maharat Nakornratchasima Hospital.

Luckily the victim did not suffer head trauma and was able to speak.

He said that he was practicing for a competition to be held in the area early next year when he was caught in high winds and was unable to control the trajectory of his chute and was thrown into the ground with force.

He was paragliding not skydiving

You would think that a 56year old man would know better than to be flirting with death but obviously not. Ah well that is what happens. No sympathy.!!!

I'm with Rodney, at 56 you stay on the ground and admire the skill of young jumpers. Bones aren't quite a strong at 56, more like BRITTLE.
