I do a cash advance with my foreign debit card at Bangkok Bank to avoid the ATM fee. Today they told me the “telephone system” of Bangkok Bank is being replaced for the entire country and they can’t provide that service for 3 weeks. Anyone else heard this or perhaps this is their face saving way of telling me they won’t do it anymore?

Sounds like a Thai-English miscommunication (misunderstanding).

 

For above to be true would mean Bangkok Bank could not accomplish Point of Service (i.e., purchase and cash advance transactions) for anyone.    Then again maybe you live in sticks where the bank has one TOT phone line and while that line is being replaced the bank will use smoke signals and pigeons to process transactions.

 

Yeap, me think there was just a Thai-English miscommunication.
