Do Thai People View Us as Pets or Possessions?

So I have a habit of hitting this one food stall once a week or so in Bang Rak because the daughter is cute and the Mamasan feeds the hell out of me. I think I have been there like 6 times, its pretty tasty. On my first visit there, they were impressed by the fact that I added a nice wad of Prik Nampla to my Pad Khrapow Moo, I mean Mama got nervous and thought I couldnt take it 55555. I can and did. Ever since then I am greeted with smiles and wais and here, have an egg no charge, etc. Pretty cool for $1.50 or so and like I said,  damn yummy.

So yesterday, Me and the Looksaw hit the place, ordered up some Green Curry,  Pad Krapow Gai, Morning Glory with Gai, Rice, about 160 baht or so of food. We are sitting there pounding it down when some old lady peddler comes up and starts waving some tschotkes at me, I give her a wai and say in my best pidgen Meeow Khap, Kap Khun kap and go back to shoveling food into my gob and wiping the sweat off my brow. The old lady hisses "hia" at me and makes a slapping motion at my head. No big deal, I just smile and give her a kap kun khap and she walks away, and I go back to the feeding frenzy.

Meanwhile the cute daughter who is like 5 meters away heard and saw this. She starts freaking out, tells the Mamasan, who tells the Husbandsan, who tells the next stall, then they are pointing at the old bat who is wandering through the tables, I hear them saying stuff like Hia, Falang, Ehhh, EHHHH, and they keep looking at me and one comes over asking if I am OK, me, its like, yo dude, no worries, just an old biddy, its all good, Im just chowing, then the Husband starts waiing and saying OK? OK?, yeah dude, can I have another egg? Meanwhile, my kid is popping her head off Instagram (its blocked in China so she was in an Instagram frenzy with not having to use a VPN) and saying <deleted> is going on with these Thai people being all concerned....like so what if the old lady was rude, you should see them in Shanghai....

So I guess for more experienced folks here:

Are they just nice folks to be so concerned? Or worried that I may be so insulted I wont come back? Or offended by the behavior of one of their countryman? Or is it Im like THEIR customer now so they need to protect me? It was NBD to me.....

I guess most of us have an idea what would have happened if she would have called a Thai person hia.

So the fact that you just sit and do nothing is exceptional. And by now they know you speak enough Thai that you understood what she said.

I guess some people (more likely Thais but also some foreigners) would not go back to a place where they felt uncomfortable. And I guess the shop owners think that made you uncomfortable. So they want to make sure you come back and feel comfortable again.

That is my interpretation of the situation.

I can understand that but cant really relate. Its a big area with tons of tables and stalls, its not like they are responsible for every a$$wipe. Are Thai folks that sensitive that they wouldnt go back for food just because some wandering dick annoyed them?
