TOKYO, 10th October 2018 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has joined in validating the 2018 Tokyo Strategy and setting 2018 as the year of exchanges between the Mekong sub-region and Japan, at the 10th Mekong-Japan Summit.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha announced Thailand’s readiness to serve as an active partner in the 2018 Tokyo Strategy in an address to the 10th Mekong-Japan Summit.

He then joined leaders from the five Mekong sub-region nations in agreeing to make 2019 the year of exchanges between the region and Japan. Thailand is also to host several major activities to help achieve the purposes of the summit, including the 6th Green Mekong Forum, which will also mark the 10th anniversary of the collaboration.

After attending a dinner with over 500 Japanese business representatives, Gen Prayut took part in a seminar organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), taking the opportunity to congratulate Japan on adopting the ACMECS master plan and inviting Japanese investors to invest in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).

The PM was later granted an audience with Japanese Emperor Akihito at the Imperial Palace before meeting with JETRO President Hiroyuki Ishige, who gave the premier his assurance he would support investments in the EEC.

Following a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe, in which the two agreed to increase cooperation under free trade agreements and to increase mutual commerce, Gen Prayut remarked that he was well satisfied with his visit to Japan and that the country continues to be very supportive of Thailand.

A highlight of his visit was the summit’s willingness to join the PM in an after lunch exercise session modeled on Japanese work traditions.

It's his smug smarmy grin that gets me. Only a total douchebag can smile like that so much after how he and his cronies took power. Seems like the plutocracy in camo sails on and on.

That's scary - "an active partner." Does this involve the use of guns or tanks?

This great man works tirelessly serving his nation. What he is accomplishing cannot be overstated. He is a genius. And a visionary. A completely selfless individual totally focused on the well being of the common man and ex-pats. What a guy. He will be talked about decades from now. He will be remembered with statues that commemorate his stature. Comic book heroes will be inspired by him. The great general.

This PM was not elected, and what "sounds exactly like", is very much different in the manner by which both arrived in office.

We ate.  We laughed.  We did some jumping jacks, ran in place for 5 minutes.  It was a huge success.  Much was accomplished

Sounds like an afternoon in the Old Folks Home. Would be interested in hearing the Japanese version of Big P's visit.
