Greetings Planning a Trip to Manilla and Return then Same day to Melbourne

My Question is if I flew in to Bangkok would I be required to go through Immigration

before travelling to Melbourne My Guess is I would even if it was just to Pick up my suitcase

then go to airline desk for Boarding Pass  I guess i would need at least 4 hours between Flights

Hopefully I could use the fast lane due to being 80 years young perhaps use the Wheel chair service

Hi Is it Possible to store a Suitcase at Bangkok Airport for a week,Prior to my Melbourne flight  would only need to take a few items for my quick trip to the Philippines  Perhaps some one has experience in doing so.

Just trying to plan ahead

I am sure many people enter the country for a few hours if transiting between between their flights is not possible.

There is certainly no rule that states you cannot do it as long as you have a visa or qualify for a visa exempt entry or a a 15 day visa on arrival to enter the country.

No sure about the baggage storage but I don't recall any restriction on how long your baggage can be stored. There might be a point when they consider the baggage abandoned but that would certainly be longer than a week.

UbonJoe's response covered the case where transiting between international flights is not possible.   But I do not think he addressed the case if you are transiting.  My experiences say you should not have to leave the international level and would not have to go through immigration.   If you need it, there is a hotel in the transit area with rooms available  by the hour.

But if he takes the route of just transferring to another international carrier what about his check-in suitcase?

This scenario probably happens every day at many airports so Is there a service whereby he could request the initial international carrier to deliver his suitcase to a representative of the next international carrier? Or perhaps deliver his case to AOT for them to check it in with the next carrier? If possible some sort of proof of the whole travel plan might well be needed and I guess his tickets would be that proof?

I've never heard of this scenario before but, as above, I'm sure it's a regular occurance, and  perhaps there is such a service, and perhaps it would be worthwhile calling both airlines and also AOT to see is such a service is available.

Are you planning to return to Bangkok just to collect a suitcase?

That would involve an extra flight to essentially go backwards.

Why not take the case with you to the Philippines and fly Manila-Melbourne direct?  (Perhaps you have a good reason to do it that way)

If you can check your bag from Manilla to Melbourne then you will be able to stay in the Transit area. To be able to check baggage thru as suggested both your homeward flights need to be on the same ticket.

There is baggage storage at Bangkok airports and cost is about 100 baht per day per piece, last time I checked.

Transit in Bangkok?  If I remember to get into the connecting area after arrival in Narita you have to go through security and need a boarding pass.  I do not think you can pass without it.  Also, my memory is that you cannot stay overnight in the boarding area.  Please correct if this is wrong.

Which airlines are you using for Manila to Bangkok and Bangkok to Melbourne? One small point to verify. Be sure that your Manila to Bangkok flight is arriving at Suvarnabhumi and not Don Muang (used by most low cost airlines).

If both airlines use Suvarnabhumi, it is usually possible to transit without passing Thai immigration. That does depend on the airlines involved, however.
