Car Reccomendations

Featured Replies

Ok so what car should I buy. Budget 1mil. I'm after something that has power and looks sporty. Not a pickup or suv. And nothing too small like March or a swift. What would you recommend?

In LOS it would be something known for reliability first and foremost, then go from there..

Toyota TRD Sportivo is as advertised somewhat sporty and under 1 mil Bht. also is a reliable.

The easy choice is the Corolla Altis at that price. If you can swing a little more, the Civic with the turbo engine is 1.1 or 1.2mil and will be the best hp/$ near your price point.

My wife drives a Toyota Camry with the extremo sport package around 1.2.  She likes it.

So would I...????

Has power and looks sporty....at 1m....depending on the definition on power and sporty....nothing new really.

If you like bland styling but great reliability: Toyota Altis

A bit more sporty but slightly over budget: Honda Civic 1.5 turbo

Not really an SUV, but kind of cute and reasonably sporty: Mazda CX-3 or quite nice drive but maybe will have a model change soon (not sure) Mazda 3.

2nd hand of course has much more options: a couple of years old Mini Cooper comes to mind or have a look at 2nd hand Volvo V40 in one of the local 2nd hand website or check through Volvo if they have some certified 2nd hand, with maybe 30-50,000km you are right there at 900k-1m. The T5 engine has very good power and the interior is rather nice.

Altis? I wouldn't call that sporty. The TRD doesn't include any performance parts over the standard altis.

Try honda civic 1.5 turbo 173P can be remapped to 220HP easily, then 0-100 less than 7 seconds (standard is low 8's). Many aftermarket parts available too -intakes, exhausts, intercoolers, etc.

Sons got one of those Stumpy looking Nissan March things. Family didnt like it, now they all ask if they can "Pop Somewhere" in it..easier to park than a barge. Its quit a nice drive for the price.

The new Civic has a sporty look. This car is not so expensive to maintain also.

Could buy used JDM cars.

Best shot for bucks would be used Mitsubishi LanEvo, 300k = mint Evo 3,4,5;  600k = Evo 8,9,x; etc.

Stock near 300hp AWD, spend rest of budget for performance parts the car could go scary fast.

Sometimes cheap crazy swapped cars popup, like 2jz E30 or rb26 Datsun.

Celica GT-Four also cheap reliable looks sporty, but less powerful than Mitsubishi, and performance parts are more expensive.

RX-7 FD super sporty for ~850k but rotary requires more maintenance.

In Thailand fanciness sells, thus convertible or targa like MX5/MR2 etc. would cost too much for their actual value. Also lotta used cars are either riced or abused, only buy properly modded & maintained ones.

Two of my friends just bought the MG ZS iSmart. At 720,000bht it seems a lot of car for the money. They are full of tech, I was surprised..
