I wonder if speed was involved? At least there are witnesses...

is this counted as a hit and run? Same same with phil cyclist...what comes around goes around

i will say when I see an elephant crossing sign....I move to the fast lane (if 2 lanes) in case one comes out from the forest and I reduce speed....

Is there no Animal welfare charity that can help out here as the poor critter's likely to be at the very least in shock besides injuries ..

I have personally attended the aftermath of a horse being hit by a car ( my recovery truck was called to remove the car ) veterinary care was on hand after an hour to do the only thing that was left for the poor beast ..

This is 100% true. I almost crashed into a cow on 2nd road Jomtien yesterday night at 7pm. About 30 of them were having fun on both sides of the road in a dark spot. They are roving around the curve 500m before Sukhumvit very often and nothing done.

The elephant fled the scene of the accident. Definitely a Thai elephant.

Serves it right for cutting its toenails in the middle of a busy road

In Canada, it is mainly moose you have to watch out for. The odd horse or cow that has escaped from a farmers field. Deer are smaller but can still cause a great deal of damage to your vehicle. In Thailand it is Elephants. They are big, solid and neither side will come off well. Drivers here need to learn to slow down in areas containing wild elephants, when it is raining, and to gear down when going downhill. RIP to the deceased.

I feel terribly sorry for the elephant ???? The poor animal has probably run into the forest to lick his wounds, i hope he’s still alive..

I bet nobody’s taking care of the few left alive, I couldn’t care less for the other wild monkeys driving vans hurting innocent animals, I’m always for the animals no mater the size or the species but the ones who happen to be on the wheels by mistake ????

Ive never seen cows there but the road surface is pretty treacherous in places.

You're also right concerning this road specially in the direction town center to Suk. Very dangerous with bikes. Dark spot, bad surface, water flood when raining and... cows with no lights sometimes.
