I'm very happy to see, that at least about two thirds of the thaivisa members seem to realize the problems this "biggest Potus of all times" is bringing to the US and the rest of the world. Thank you all!

Hopefully voters will think the same!

Not from MSM although I watch Tucker Carlson sometimes. I don't watch conspiracy theories on Youtube either.

The Duran

Qanon

Storm upon us

and a few more that generally are referred to in certain circles as Fascist White privilege posters. I learn a lot on Twitter also and don't just subscribe to people that agree with me.

I'm pretty much an exclusive CNN guy.

I would be referred to in certain circles as a far-left, hippie, socialist, libtard, snowflake. ????

I don't understand your last remark. Are you suggesting that Europe should not try to cope with their problems because they seem "unmanageable?"

By Europe, I mean the EU, and its problems are not manageable because it is the cause of said problems!

Sadly the U.S. is increasingly the arrogant bully on the world stage.    Because the average citizen is uninformed/uninterested in world affairs, he/she is vulnerable to manipulation by media and politicians who pursue their own selfish ends and fail to serve the public good:   e.g., most Americans believe that that the Iraq war was justified, that the killing of tens of thousands of innocent Yemenis is justified, that the mayhem, death and destruction unleashed in libya and Syria has been worthwhile.    The U.S. foreign policy is neocon dominated and is focused on two fundamentals, one, undermining any country that does not bow to American dictates and, two, unconditional support for the jewish state despite its heinous behavior.

I couldn’t disagree with you more. The reason America is in the shape it is, is a direct result of the progressives bastardisation of the founders principles upon which America was created. A steady decline starting in the 40’s when the progressives started spewing the “Big Lies” turning the truth on its head.

I couldn't disagree with you more. The US constantly needs to reexamine our founder's principles in the light of current situations, many of which were completely unknown to them. They were, also, all privileged White men living in a patriarchal society. Things have changed a lot since then, in spite of what Trump and his supporters want to think. Our founding fathers got us started in the right, general direction, but it is up to us to continue to steer the ship to try and avoid the hidden reefs of which they were unaware.

It is worthwhile to step back and take a nonbiased view of the US in order to understand what direction they will go in the upcoming election. Whether this is the right direction or not is a value choice, and will vary by individual so there is little point in asking the question other than to start a flame war.

The truth is, those people who voted for Trump in 2016 are unlikely to change their minds based on the current economy. Whoever was responsible, things do appear to be getting better in the immediate term, and that motivates people to stay the course. So there is little chance of the Republicans losing the Senate.

As for the house which is tighter, do keep in mind how wrong the polls were in 2016. This is a result of individuals secretly wanting to support Trump, but not wanting to do so publicly. With the current vitriol spewed these days calling all Trump supporters racist and evil, it is unlikely this polling bias has changed. So I would think it is likely that Republicans will keep the house as well.

Is this the "right" direction? Who knows. It is the prevailing direction though, and I don't see the winds changing during this election. Maybe in 2020. It usually takes about 2 years after oil starts rising to precipitate a collapse, so my bet would be to sit tight.

I think and hope that the events of the last few days will change the attitude of the more moderate Republicans and with the women's vote will bring a real blue wave. This may change the USA and possibly the whole western world, i.e. will bring it away from the brink of a total disaster!

As Jim Kunstler puts it, Trump, a.k.a. the Golden Golem of Greatest, is the grossest white male that ever walked the Earth!

Yet, Trump is only one more autocrat to lead a major country, beside Putin and Xi, not to mention the smaller ones such as Orban, Duterte and the likes...all duly elected by the way (save Xi).

Do the voters feel some nostalgia about the 1930s, or is there a profound reason pushing them to vote for such leaders?

Do the same causes lead to the same effects?

I assumed you meant the EU. It has problems, sure. All countries do. The UK and the US does. The whole reasoning behind a union is to band together to try to help solve, or at least ameliorate, the inevitable problems. Going it alone in the world today, like the UK and Trump advocates, is, IMO, just not an acceptable goal.

Excellent comment. One of the problems in the US is the media and it is difficult go get any socialist agenda out when the very word 'socialist' is used as an insult.....as in socialised medicine, in use in all developed countries of the world except one. Bernie Sanders was labeled a socialist. And the first thing a deplorable will say about socialism is "Venezuela". They don't say Sweden or Denmark or Norway.....no always socialism/Venezuela/100000000% inflation. A simple but nonsensical argument shuts down debate. If you asked people if they felt that income should be doled out more fairly instead of the CEO hogging 95% of it, then maybe you would get a different answer....

I do agree with most of what you say, only I believe that the word "socialism" should be replaced by the words "Social Democracy" I believe that that is what Bernie Sanders is calling for and if it is communicated properly, most Americans will agree with such a system, which prevails in most democratic countries of Europe, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany Netherlands and others.
