Cameroonian man caught on 998 day overstay in south Thailand

Satun tourist and immigration police paid a visit to a house in the southern Thai city after reports of suspicious behavior.

Sanook reported that a "dark skinned" man was staying at the property with an English teacher friend and lots of black people were visiting.

The door was closed during the day but ajar at night.

The authorities descended on the house - number 2/7 in Phimai sub-district of Muang district - where they arrested Mr Theophile, 30.

The Cameroonian had a legal passport but it had expired in 2017.

He was found to be on 998 days of over stay.

He was detained and will be deported and blacklisted for ten years, according to the regulations.

Would they have come only one single day later! Would have been a very lucky day for everybody ...

Guess that put a dent into any 1,000 day celebration plans.

Camaroonian behaving suspiciously , surely not . A friend of an English teacher too , the story darkens .

I doubt they'll deport him, they'd need to buy two seats..

On the other hand, this would good for BJ's statistics...

Being his complexion, he should have known the day was coming. I keep mine up to date and to the minute! Just follow their laws. They are put in place for a reason!!!

Could play games with his surname.

Oh, so close. I heard at 1000 days you get a prize. Better luck next time.

Me too! I started using my wifes Ponds whitening lotion, I am invisible to the authorities now.

I am surprised it's only you and I who have picked up on this little trick.

Problem is, deport him today, he'll be back next week under a different name, with a different passport, through a pourous unfit border control somewhere

The OP pic is funny when you look at it for a while: the seven dwarves (8 I know...) minding a grizzly bear.
