Motorcycle cops ready to rescue school chauffeurs from traffic snarls

Bangkok parents stuck in traffic while trying to chauffeur their kids to school can now call in motorcycle police to fish them out.

 

 

Pol Lt Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat, the city’s assistant police commissioner general, said on Wednesday amid a busy start to the semester that parents could tap into the “emergency ferry” service by calling 1197.

 

It’s only available, though, if they’re within 10 kilometres of their kids’ schools and near 18 locations where motorcycle cops are on standby.

 

 

The locations include the expressway exits onto Ploenchit, Silom and Victory Monument and under the Rama IV expressway.

great use of resource - a free police taxi service 

So the motorcy taxi guys will have another target in addition to the Grab guys......

Tit style paradox, use police resources to help getting people out from a traffic jam that their incompetence has created in the first place.

 

And the the Police will be carrying a spare helmet for these kids or they will already have theirs in the cars??

It's a great idea, the parents can leave home later knowing that they can call on the traffic police to deliver their kids to school for them.

Traffic control and safety for other drivers? No problem, what another fantastic well thought out idea.

I'll give it one day. Too generous, I'll say this is binned as soon as the photo parade finishes

The motorcycle cop will pick up the child, then to get free from the snarl up he will drive down the wrong side of the road, mount the pavement, go down a one way street the wrong way, all the while answering the next call on his mobile. This will thereby perpetuate the appalling driving skills by instilling into the child that if a policeman does it then it must be o.k ......

It's not as if kids might really miss anything by showing up a bit late for class.
