This was probably actually a win. So it appears that Trump is actually more popular than he was during his campaign in 2016. Only 26 seats? That seems low. If that is true it is lower than the average loss of seats (28) to the opposition party of a sitting president in a mid-term election. I had read 32-35 based on the outcome of tight races. Even that's not too good, considering, well, Trump. Edited November 8, 2018 by lannarebirth

Popular Post Tug
Keep in mind those seats that were lost were in heavily jerrymanderd districts it’s much harder to win there 3 3

Acosta should have realised that Trump thought he was on the Apprentice again and was about to fire him, he missed a play here, he should have replied: "That's rich coming from a despicable creature like you!" Definitely "the pot calling the kettle black". Maybe the highly respected Acosta should have just said "right back at yah" (street language that Trump is sure to understand). 3

There are about 6 to 9 more house seats that are still being counted where there is a fair chance they will switch from Red to Blue. It might take a couple of weeks to know the exact number. The other big news that isn't getting much press coverage is the 7 governor seats switched from Red to Blue. This is a big deal for Democrats at the state and local levels. Nilats
I'm just curious how this drama develops... to what extent Democrats will try to challenge him before the next elections - they may try to compromise him if they are serious about all this build up and vendetta they have against him which is very unique... things could get messy and would be interesting to see how this affects the current stand-off of everybody vs everybody in the world. Just making a constatation that he didn't lose any of his support base... so the whole smear campaign didn't really work... That's a good start, but so many governorships and state houses were lost in the Obama years the Democrats are coming from a lonnnng way back. Personally, in states with bi-cameral legislatures I prefer mixed control of legislative bodies.

GOP and 45 suffered another huge popular vote loss and without gerrymandering, voter suppression and purges would be in a world of hurt. A pity you don't know the difference between a smear campaign and reporting. Of course his support base won't change, what could change are those people who hoped Trump would bring about something else, something good, and should have realised by now it is only going down faster and faster with Trump at the helm. The incumbent party typically has a huge advantage when the economy is doing well. And the economy had been doing well, robust growth, low unemployment, climbing stock market, increasing wages, etc. Yet, in this strong economic environment, the Republicans still managed to lose control of the House. How could that have happened? His name is Trump. 2

Popular Post GinBoy2
The Senate isn't a referendum, if was never designed to be that unlike house, where the members represent the popular vote, give or take, we can always argue about gerrymandering, The framers wanted to ensure that there was a balance between large and small States, and the large ones couldn't overwhelm the smaller ones. Hence I live in South Dakota, solidly Red, with a population of 800,00 and 2 senators. California, solidly Blue, population 40M and 2 senators. An interesting side note. When the Dakota territory was admitted to the Union, the Republicans of the day insisted that even with it's tiny population it be split in into two States, North & South, because they knew it would give them an additional 4 rather than 2 Senate seats. Politics has always been a dirty game! 3
