PHUKET: All progress on the two flyovers planned to be built over Thepkrasattri Rd is on hold for at least another year after a formal protest pointed out that one of the proposed flyover sites is within one kilometre of sites of historical value in the area.

The two flyers, together costing about B200 million, are both to be ‘mid-air U-turns’, allowing traffic heading northbound to return southbound unimpeded, and without causing delays to other motorists.

One is planned to be built near the ‘Yee Teng mansion’ in Koh Kaew, the other planned to be built in Mu Dok Kaeo, north of Thalang Town.

Historical value my erse- HiSo doesn't want a flyover outside the mansion and the museum is hardly relevant either.

Make them tunnel "U" turns and I am sure the landowners will drop their objections. Who wants a fly-over in your front/back-yard.

And they expect to complete the light railway in three years??!!

With the ever increasing number of vehicles on the roads rapid improvements are necessary to help keep the flow moving otherwise Phuket will face gridlock before too long. Lengthy negotiations over payments (all other excuses are just smokescreens) should not be allowed & there have been many in the past such as the water tank fiasco on Visit Rd

I avoid phuket like the plague. The infrastructure is diabolical. Why tourists go there is beyond my comprehension.

Because Phuket's infrastructure is better than the infrastructure in China, Russia and India.  ????
