PHUKET: Phuket Police on Wednesday (Nov 7) arrested a Chalong-based drug dealer and seized over 52,000 methamphetamine pills (ya bah) and 784.82 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ya ice).

The arrest of Danai Hlankban, 35, was revealed by Col Akanit Danpitaksarn, a Deputy Commander of the Phuket Provincial Police, and Maj Kongpop Posane, Chief of Border Patrol Police Company 425, at a press conference held yesterday (Nov 9) at Phuket Provincial Police Station.

The investigation was launched by Border Patrol Police Company 425 after officers received a tip off that Mr Danai may be distributing drugs in Phuket. Having checked Mr Danai's activities and behaviour, officers found the tip off trustworthy and cooperated with Phuket police to conduct a joint raid.

Always the anonymous tip-off. I am beginning to wonder if they would ever make any arrests without one. Then they applaude themselves for catching the evil doer and stage-manage a photo shoot with half the Phuket police force and then make a full blown media release of it. Great work guys!

Glad to see nasty speed taken off the streets.  Hopefully it will stay off the streets.  This is a pretty signifigant amount compared to the 20-100 pills that normally result in a bust.

There can't be much of a deterrent to stop these traffickers of ice and yaba as I see arrests almost daily of people caught with huge amounts of pills, as many as a million. Never see what kind of sentences handed down though, not enough to deter anybody obviously.

How is the Phuket governors drugometer running now, a little over problem moderate, I would guess.

They have a yaba epidemic in this country.

Yes, I was making a comment based on the governors statement that Phuket's drug problem is moderate.
