SURVEY: Thai Immigration targeting Blacks - OK or not?

There was a recent thread that indicates that Thai immigration is targeting black people for arrest and deportation.   Do you agree with this policy?

How is it racism to assess which group of people has the most number liable for arrest and deportation and then targeting them?  If white males from Europe were that category then it would be logical to start with them and I would have no problems with it as a policy.

If there was a major push to address road safety and it was revealed that the group causing the most accidents were persons aged between 20 and 25 (just an example) there would be uproar if the police targeted over 50's!

This is not really about race or skin colour.  In this instance that is just coincidence.  These people have developed a procedure and mind set that they take with them wherever they go.  The Thais are simply doing something about them that others only pay lip service to.

Let the bleeding heart minorites wail all they want.

I think for the survey to be real you needed to add third criteria.  I agree that anyone or group that is breaking the law is targetted.

 

The one thing we have seen from Big Joke is that he could really care who you are if you are breaking immigration law he wants you 

 

Bringing race into the equation dilutes the main topic.  You leave the impression that this is a racial thing when if you look at the areas and the people arrested it is not racial but criminal

 

Please do not become liberal American in your surveys playing the race card for sympathy

Hardly racism, It's just a fact that the majority of them in any country other than their native country are up to no good. There are a grteat deal of them who are not up to no good, but in that instance I'm sure they will have nothing to worry about as their documentation etc should all be in order.

 

As stated above, if they were targeting white males I would be ok with that, as it would get rid of the riff raff that are giving us all a bad name!

They targeted themselves, as far as I can see. Even in Malaysia, except for a small cadre of serious students, their majority was involved in criminal activity and various scams.

I remember the early eighties in UK when there were many riots in Bristol and Toxteth and others.  A current affairs programme was discussing whether the police should be equipped with CS Gas or not.

A police officer advocating it was told that using CS Gas was racist.

He replied that the CS would only be used against rioters.

A gentleman with a dark suntan, dreadlocks and a tea cosy hat replied,

'Yeah but if you look at the people in the riots they are all black people therefore you are being racist!'

surely its not about Racism its more about the blacks that come to Thailand seem to abuse the immigration laws so they just seem to pick more blacks up than whites. im white and i dont have a problem at all if i was stopped 2 times a day to prove im here legally.

IMO, if they (police) were doing their job correctly, there would be no reason to target anyone.

 

If you do wrong and are caught, you suffer the consequences. If the percentage of those caught are dark skinned, so be it, but to target any group because of colour or indeed where they originate from is, again IMO, wrong.

 

I know a few white skinned westerners living here that could do with a visit from the boys in brown that could well be involved in the very crimes that they are apparently after targeting the blacks. And before anyone starts, for clarity I won't be reporting them as they don't affect me or mine, that isn't my job.

Go take a look at Silom after Watt India going down to the Holiday Inn. They are dressing some like Muslims and they are congregating in numbers at Starbucks in a little square before the Holiday Inn. There were at least 25 of them the other night. they just troll walking up and down the street and going over to Suriwong. Not a pretty sight to see and yes, they are a nuisance for sure. Easy to tell the bad black eggs from the good ones. No brainer.

Not only in Thailand the targeting Africans. The same happens in Hong Kong. So there must me a reason for that.

Not a problem in the long run. When they run out of blacks then whites will be next. It may not be your turn but you have a place in line.

Impoverished neighborhoods tend to have higher crime rate; 

impoverished people tend to commit more crime.

Immigration in every country profiles. They have limited resources and have to get the biggest bang for their buck. I am a 50yo white guy and last month coming through Auckland airport they gave me the full monty - surreptitiously xraying my bag before delivery, drug and food dogs, full bag search and interrogation. Why? I went home for 2 days between projects. Anyone from Thailand, especially short trips, is under heightened scrutiny.

 

That is not racism or predjudice, just the fact that bad things happen more often under certain conditions. We have a lot of african scammers and non-compliant people. I don't think they are kicking out any black people with valid visas.

It may be viewed as racist back in the Western world , that is because there are Black people from those Countries , Afro-Americans .

  Thailand doesnt have any Afro-Thais , they are all from abroad .

There are thousands of luk-kreung negros who were fathered by black GIs in the 1960s and 70s.

First, it's a myth that blacks are targeted. I live in the south. They are targeting everyone. Any dreamer cuddling on a couch on three years of overstay thinking I'm Caucasian and will get away with it will get a rude awakening. No more income letters. They want money in the bank. It's new times. ????

Judging a person by their skin colour is the definition of racism, no matter how you try to spin it.

 

Think for one minute, if you had won a black skin in this lottery of life. The history of slavery, racism and discrimination such people have endured is nothing short of disgusting.

 

I am African, 'blessed' with a white skin. I left there when the racism and entitlement of white people became too much; it is worse today...

 

Thailand has a problem with foreign criminal types, mainly because of poor controls at their borders and consulates. If they implement a proper visa application process it will prevent the majority coming. Corruption at the borders is also their own fault.

 

Clean up your immigration and border controls first, Thailand.
