Recently the specialist at Bkk/Pattaya hospital prescribed me Clonazepam for RLS which worked a treat, but I was only given 7 tablets, so today I went back for a refill and he prescribed Rivotril as he said I can buy from a pharmacy cheaper than at the hospital. I tried the Fascino on the corner only to be told they don't have it, so back I go to the doctor who gave me another prescription for Clonazepam, 30 tabs this time, so why did he tell me to buy

Rivotril from a pharmacy when only hospitals are allowed to sell it? I couldn't ask the doc myself as the nurse saw him for me.

Rivotril brand of clonazepam is off market now. (There are other brands tho).

Clonazepam, like all benzos, is a controlled substance and cannot legally be bought over the counter.

No idea what your doctor was thinking of.

This is a benzo. You will not get over the counter. You will need to go to a hospital or a psych practice. to get. My psych will not give me unless and if she does, no more then 4-5 days at a time.

Be very careful with these. I know people in my Bipolar Awareness Group that have become addicted to them in like a month of use.

Great to calm you down over a day and keep anxiety at bay. Good for RLS it seems.

Only to control my restless legs syndrome and I don't usually have the problem every day, but they are handy to have available when I do. The doctor didn't seem to mind prescribing 30 X 0.5mg Clonazepam, and amazingly only cost 250 Baht at the hospital pharmacy.

Have you tried Lyrica/pregabalin? That has worked for me in the past.

I know what it is like RLS. I use another drug for the same problem but it also controls another problem but at 25 baht a tablet, three times a day, the Clonazepam is much cheaper than what I take. I now, in general, refuse to take benzos but they certainly do a have a place for issues like this.

Yes, .5mg is not that much but halflife is longer (19-60 hours) and that is why it works I think so well on RLS. Just be aware that it is a benzo. I have been around psych drugs for the last 35 years and was a test pig for just about every drug you can imagine. Always follow your doctor and be aware drinking is not a good idea with any benzo. I had a friend die at the start of this year from drinking and taking benzos (he was 61) and it was just a wasted life as it did not need to happen at all.

One or two beers a week is about my limit now, just don't have the taste for it like I used to. I do still have a glass of red with meals a few times a week though.

It seems you have to medicate 2 or 3 times a day with Lyrica, I prefer to just be able to take something whenever the condition keeps me awake.

This drug changed my life when I was having severe anxiety and panic attacks 20 years ago. Under a Doctor's supervision I was on it for 3 months until my nerves settled back down, then gradually reduced to zero over a 2 month period with no withdrawal symptoms, since then I take it occasionally, perhaps once a month, when I'm stressed out, and within an hour I feel so much better. Long half life, one dose lasts nearly 2 days for me, so by the time it's wearing off the stressful situation has normally passed. Doesn't sedate me as I only need 0.5 mg, and (for me) no problem with moderate alcohol intake. Although it's a benzo, it's a completely different feeling to Valium which made me feel lethargic, drowsy and dreamy. Whilst taking Clonazepam I can also function well at work, in fact sometimes much better because I'm not stressed out and can think clearly. If anxiety and/or panic is affecting your life it's worth a try, under a Doctor's supervision of course.

Hi. My mother takes Rivotril .5 mg every night, and she is going to run out at the end of the month. I read that you can get 30 tabs of Clonazepam for 250 a month at a hospital pharmacy. Could you please tell me which hospital this is? Thanks so much.

Where did you hear this? Best to ask that person. Must have been  government hospital.  Prices at private hospital  = three time this much.  You can't buy directly from a hospital pharmacy, she will have to see  doctor first and it will be prescribed only if the doctor is convinced it is necessary.
