Labour Leaders to Reject Free Clothing: Starmer and Rayner Announce Change
Why on earth would they? An example, many years ago on a construction site I was working on we had endless issues with a bolshy militant member of the labour force, he was the union rep too or shop steward as we used to call them in those days. He would complain about everything from the timing of tea breaks , working hours, bonuses , disciplinary matters, etc etc on several occasions he almost shut the site down, attempting to persuade the rest of the work force to strike over very trivial matters. The site manager came up with a rather innovative solution, he promoted him to forman, we thought this was a crazy idea, but how wrong we were, the guy changed literally overnight, becoming a hard task master who would not tolerate any of the nonsense he used to be notorious for. People forget their "principals" very quickly when it suits them, in my experience -

Thai Girl is almost perfect but are these serious problems?
1% of the population are psychopaths. Not the slash and burn variety but just lacking in what most consider the normal emotional needs. They learn to paste and copy emotional behaviour to get by. I'm out of touch with how a young person raised in the digital age is wired but happy to stay on the phone all day, seemingly few emotional needs suggests something to me. -

@Cameroni would you care to respond to @Eric Loh linking his "shameless" remark? @Cameroni you have a problem and that is being scared of powerful women, just like Harris is a powerful lady. It makes you even more insecure than you already are. Man up ! Vote Harris ! -

Beer drinking in Thailand: Does Leo preserve brain-cells better than Chang?
I think the question you should be asking is, which one kills fewer brain cells, Chang or Leo? Could be wrong, but pretty sure there's not much preservation going on. Although it is all homogenised 5% swill, I really feel the 'afterglow' of a weekend on the Leo! Locals also consider it a bit off a poor man's beer... if there's one of the 'big 3' unavailable in this or not bar, guaranteed it is Leo. -

Chula university cancels launch of book critical of Thai military
Chulalongkorn University cancelled plans to host a seminar and book launch for a publication by one of its scholars, Doctor Puangthong Pawakapan, which discusses the role of the Thai military. The event, originally scheduled for this upcoming Friday, September 28, has been moved to the Jim Thompson Museum instead of being held on campus as originally planned. Dr Puangthong, an academic at the Political Science Faculty, shared the news on Facebook, stating that university executives barred the use of any venue at Chula for the launch of her book titled ‘Infiltrating Society: The Thai Military’s Internal Security Affairs,’ without providing a clear reason. Despite this, the university’s International Relations Department continues to support the event. The seminar will focus on the Thai edition of her award-winning book, originally published in English by the Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore in 2021. The Thai edition is printed by Same Sky Books. The book is based on a two-year research project that earned awards from Chulalongkorn University in 2023 and from Foreign Affairs magazine in 2022. This cancellation follows criticism from the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) on 14 September, which accused Dr Puangthong of lacking expertise in security matters. ISOC called for the book and related forums to be banned, claiming they could mislead the public and harm the image of the military. The agency threatened legal action against her and requested the university review her ethics. In response, Dr Puangthong defended her work in a subsequent, highlighting that her research had been rigorously reviewed by international experts. She invited ISOC to join the seminar and publicly discuss the issue instead of seeking to suppress it. The upcoming forum will include notable speakers such as Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, co-founder of the now-disbanded Future Forward Party, and Prajak Kongkirati from Thammasat University’s Political Science Faculty, both known for their criticism of military coups and political interference by the armed forces, reported Bangkok Post. Mother in Tears: Daughter Dies in Russia, Family Struggles to Bring Ashes Home
My father passed away and I think there is/was a book of remembrance with his name in it. Same with my mother, never seen the book. Brother passed away in Australia with instructions there should be no memorial/urn or anything. Brother in law passed away in India....nothing. As a family we have never really discussed this aspect of dying....... we just die and that's it. My kids are dyed in the wool atheists and are likely to follow suit as they live in the US, France, Germany and the UK.....too much travel and too much hassle.
