PHUKET:-- Police today confirmed that no progress has been made in bringing to court a charge of reckless driving causing death against the airport taxi driver that wiped out six vehicles and killed a motorbike driver during morning rush hour traffic on Thepkrasattri Rd last month.

The taxi driver, 23-year-old Marut Puangsombat, was initially charged by police with reckless driving causing death after the wipeout – which killed 40-year-old Phuket resident Anuson Rattanadilok Na Phuket.

A tourist was in the taxi when the accident happened at 8am, Oct 30, but escaped unharmed, and immediately returned to the airport to leave.

Just another of the daily incidents that proves the justice system doesn't provide justice. 6 wrecked cars and a motorcyclist killed but with laws so vague, police not even knowing the law and "incentives" not to act delays are the result.

No reckless driving but last month when a German driver hit a bicycle on a very dark spot where the cyclist had no lights he immediatly got reckless driving against him.

Purely curiosity, but I would love to know the tourist's nationality and if he/she went home or just somewhere saner.

Ahh well done- 4 posts in for his totally unrelated case to be brought into a thread.

Have a biscuit.

How will TAT spin this one,and the tourist,i wonder if it was their first time here,a multiple pile up and a dead motorcyclist, wow, amazing Thailand indeed,no wonder they went straight back and left, but they did get a unique if short peek into Thailand and it's wonderful driving culture.

power of Phuket Taxi Mafia. i guess, police has no power to go over them.

so a poor rider is killed and nothing happens. this happened more than three weeks ago!

and that idiot taxi driver most probably riding a taxi now!

Was about to ask if "saner" was a typo instead of "safer" - but then realised both words work equally well ????
