Hi guys

travelling to Thailand for 6 weeks in 16th December total stay will be 45 days and am hoping to go to the Philippines on 14th Jan for 1 of those weeks.

Ive looked for info but have had no luck my question is do I need a multiple entry visa OR a 60 day tourist visa or do I just go for the 30 day standard visa and then get a new one on re-entry to Thailand.

Im not looking to save money as much as I just want the right visa so not to have any problems at the airports.

Thanks

Get a visa single entry visa before you arrive.

Some airlines may not let you board without one.

Have a booking for where are staying, 20,000 baht or equivalent in dollars or sterling and a return flight booking. Makes things easy.

When you leave for Phil's get a re-entry permit at the airport on the way out and it keeps your 60 day alive. Single re-entry permit 1000 baht.

You could get a 30 day visa exempt entry if you will already have your ticket to the Philippines when you start your trip to here. And then when you return another 30 day visa exempt entry since you will have your a ticket out within 30 days.

Thanks, think this is what I wanted to hear.

I’m travelling with a friend so we may/may not go to the Philippines we will decide for sure when in Thailand so I won’t have Philippines flights booked, in which case would you advise getting the 60 day to make sure iam covered and will that allow me to return to Thailand? I don’t mind if I need to pay 1000 bhat re-entry

Flights all booked from uk - Thailand return so just need to get back into Thailand for a week before due to depart

A single entry tourist visa would be the best option if you will not have a ticket out of the country within 30 days when you start your trip.

I'm looking to get a single entry tourist visa in Phnom Penh in late December. I have a ticket back to the UK in march.

I understand that it lasts sixty days but can be extended by another thirty.

I also understand it's also possible to get a re entry visa at the airport which would allow me to make I've trip out of Thailand for a couple of weeks or so.

Am I right that it is possible to leave and re-enter Thailand (I want to go to a nearby country) under this visa and also that one can extend it from sixty to ninety days, whilst having left and re-entered?

Thanks a lot for any help.

You can get a re-entry permit (not a visa) to keep the remainder of the 60 day entry valid when you enter the country. For example if you entered the country on December 28th and got stamped in until February 25th then left the country you would be stamped into the country until that day when you enter the country using the re-entry permit. Then you could get a 30 day extension of your original 60 day entry.

You can get a re-entry permit on departure from the country at either airport in Bangkok and some other ones outside Bangkok.

If you entered Thailand on a Tourist Visa on 18th December as an example;

You'll be stamped with permission to stay until Feb 15th.

If you visit a nearby Country, say for 1 week in January, you purchase a single re-entry permit (1,000 baht)

On re-entry you will again be stamped in until Feb 15th.

You can apply for a 30 day extension at your local Immigration office (1,900 baht) up to 30 days before Feb 15th.

You will then be stamped with permission to stay until March 16th.

Regarding op James. I notice your UK. That also qualifies you for visa exempt to Vietnam. I fly Saigon about that time and the return flight was 2500baht. Philippines was about 5000. To each their own but I wouldn't bother with Philippines. And travel from airport pain. If you booked a trip to either you could enter Thailand on visa exempt both times no problem. No visa, no reentry permit and bonus Vietnam is cheap.
