Crime Armed Robber Posing as Motorcycle Taxi Driver Targets Tourist in Pattaya

A Thai man has been arrested following an armed robbery involving a Russian tourist in Pattaya on the night of 20 April. The incident occurred in Soi Phra Tamnak 5, where the suspect, disguised in a bright orange motorcycle taxi vest and helmet, allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded money from a Russian woman and her Thai friend. The victim, identified only as Miss Lilita, was accompanied by her three-year-old daughter at the time of the robbery. Fearing for their safety, she handed over 3,100 baht before the suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle. Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos Thepjumnong, Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 2, confirmed during a press briefing on 22 April that the 30-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after an investigation was launched. Officers reviewed CCTV footage across Pattaya to track the suspect’s movements, leading to the swift identification and subsequent issuance of an arrest warrant. The suspect, who has a known criminal history and was already wanted on an outstanding warrant, was taken into custody and is now facing prosecution. According to Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos, the man has previously committed similar offences and is considered a threat to public safety. “This suspect has repeatedly committed serious crimes, often targeting women and tourists. His actions tarnish Thailand’s reputation,” said the Commissioner. “I have directed that this case be treated with the utmost seriousness.” Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos also highlighted the importance of the city’s extensive CCTV network, which played a vital role in the rapid identification and capture of the suspect. He has instructed Pattaya police to step up patrols, focus on arresting individuals with outstanding warrants, and intensify efforts to combat illegal firearms and contraband. “Our priority is to safeguard both residents and visitors,” he said. “The Royal Thai Police are fully committed to protecting the public and will respond swiftly to any threat. We urge both locals and tourists to place their trust in us—we are here to ensure everyone’s safety.” The suspect remains in custody as police continue their investigation. Embellishment to the post in World news: While the White House has not officially confirmed the details of Bessent's remarks, press secretary Karoline Leavitt offered a cautiously optimistic tone during a briefing later in the day. “The president and the administration are setting the stage for an incredible deal with China,” Leavitt said. “So we feel everyone involved wants to see an incredible trade deal happen, and the ball is incredibly moving in the right direction.” She declined to elaborate directly on Bessent’s comments but confirmed that the administration believes it is “doing incredibly well in respect to an incredibly potential trade deal with China.” -

Shock as Newborn’s Body Found in Rubbish Truck in Sukhumvit 62, Bangkok

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) waste collection staff were left in shock after discovering the body of a newborn baby while collecting rubbish in Sukhumvit Soi 62 on the morning of 22 April. The infant’s body emerged in the compactor at the rear of the garbage truck as rubbish was being loaded and compressed. Police Lieutenant Rapeecha Kongpradit, Deputy Inspector at Phra Khanong Police Station, received a report of the incident and responded immediately to the scene. He was accompanied by Pol. Col. Chaiyawat Pradabthai, Superintendent of Phra Khanong Police, forensic officers, a medical examiner from the Department of Forensic Medicine at Chulalongkorn University, and rescue volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation. The body, whose gender has not yet been determined, was found at the back of a green refuse truck registered in Bangkok and operated by Phra Khanong District. According to Mr. Suchart Homchuen, the waste collection worker who discovered the body, the team had been collecting rubbish along the soi when the discovery was made. Mr. Suchart stated that while emptying bins and operating the compactor at the end of the lane, he noticed the body of a newborn sliding back down from the compactor. He immediately alerted authorities. He also noted that the last rubbish collection in the area took place on 19 April. Police are now reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the individual responsible for abandoning the baby and an investigation is underway.
