Checking the mirror may not have made any difference as the speed of the girls may have put them in his blind spot. Not an excuse just a contributing factor. I couldn't see any blinkers on the trucker before he started to turn in the video. The girls speed was not helping but thats common here. Scooters like to pass as fast as you can on either side or weave in and out . -

There were not turn signals flashing on the truck that I could see and the girls definitely were passing on the shoulder. Very common for scooters to do this and also for trucks to not use signals -
