I am looking to replace some rattan lounge chairs and just noticed that the couple of decent rattan specialist shops on Naklua that were there for years, just beyond the Post Office and market, are no longer trading. If anyone knows where to find good, solid, farang-sized and weight-bearing rattan chairs, wicker-backing preferred, let me know.

Thanks!

I'm not positive if they have rattan but I'm guessing Sampeng behind Central Marina would have rattan furniture. If you don't mind spending more Index Living mall has rattan IIRC.

loads of Rattan furniture on offer at collingbourne auction yesterday

Checked that out and although it's the newer stuff, it's all a bit lightweight and not as hefty as the old stuff I am trying to replace.

Sampeng on the list, thanks. Index has some nice looking stuff but once again, not as robust as they used to make locally.

I don't think anything at Sampeng is high quality so if you found stuff at Index not robust you likely won't find it at Sampeng.

You can do a Google search for some places.  I found this one.  New York Furniture Rattan and Wicker, 298/76 naklua Bang Lamung.  There is also Phanwai Furniture, 301/99 Thepprasit Road Banglamung.

Thanks for that. I had shopped Sampeng before but not for this sort of stuff and I am out of town at the moment so delegating to third-parties. They had already asked at Collingbourne's and they commented that they're seeing less and less rattan as it's either not popular anymore or simply desn't have the same resale value as it used to. Index makes good looking stuff that's designed for household use and more aesthetic than resilient + they're expensive, a bit like Pier 1 in the US that imports all sorts of Asian exotica and charges +500% for it.

I'll post a picture of what I am trying to replace. The old rattan shops in Naklua used to do at-cost running repairs on stuff you'd bought from them so along with lack of demand, maybe that's why they got out of the business.

Don't know if it's the one Alexcanada mentioned but there is a Rattan shop on the corner of Theprasit / Soi 6.
