Democracy Activists Intercepted En Route To Rajabhakti Park

PHETCHABURI — Pro-democracy activists were intercepted Sunday while traveling to the army’s historical park in Prachuap Khiri Khan, which was engulfed in corruption scandals.

 

Sirawith “Ja New” Seritiwat of the New Democracy Movement, said he and 13 other people were blocked more than once on the way from Bangkok to the Rajabhakti Park. Their bus was stopped several hours at Khao Yoi police station in Phetchaburi until late afternoon, making them unable to reach their destination, he said.

Why the vigorous persistency to stop the activists if there are nothing to hide. It’s a public park after all. I hope the next elected government will launch an independent commission to investigate possible graft.

How dare citizens go to a public park.  Inside information was obtained that they might pick daffodils or even, shriek, smell the roses.

Police harassment but this could have been prevented had the driver had a valid license. Though i doubt if other drivers without a valid license would also have been forced to stop driving. But it does show the attention to detail if you don't even have a recent license and drive a bus.

 

So the reason they could not go on was because the driver had no valid license. Maybe something else would have been found to make them stop and they were overly checked however its a valid reason to stop someone transporting passengers when they don't have a valid license.

They wanted to protest there (no problem IMHO) but the police wanted to stop them and finally found a reason to stop them because of negligence on the side of the protesters. Of course its harassment but not smart on the side of the protesters too. 

 

I make the assumption here that it was a small minivan that you can only operate if you have a certain license otherwise someone else could have driven on.

 

Sirawith said officers first stopped them in Ratchaburi province to raid their bus and collect urine samples to test for drugs before letting them go. He said they were blocked again in Phetchaburi province and went through the same process, only this time their driver was charged for driving with an expired license, forcing them to discontinue their journey.

And Prayuth has vowed that there was an end to the prohibition on the right to protest, and demonstrate, for political reasons. Now, the army rears it's incredibly ugly head again. This nation must get rid of them. They must get out. Get out now. You are not wanted. You are not needed. The people despise you, for very good reasons. You have done so little for the nation, in the past four and one half years. It is all about the money, and power for you fools. 

 

These are very small men, with way too much power, who would not know what the interests of the public were, if it bit them on the butt. They care not one iota for the common man.

It appears that the order was to stop them from protesting. So after the first attempt failed they were stopped again for another go which is when a reason was found to delay them long enough to prevent them from continuing. Nothing would stop them from trying again. The bad news is that is a reason couldn't be found to stop them would they face a more violent detention? Are they willing to accept that and will they have enough media involved to make a statement?
