Please, what visa options if can't renew non-o?

For several years now I’ve been on a non-o visa based on marriage & child, but this year has been a particularly hard year (don’t judge) and I don’t have the 400k in the bank or 40k per month. Is there any possible way to renew my non-o visa for another year? My understanding is its not possible, so what options do I have?

You will not be able to extend your permission to stay at your local immigration office.

 

You will however be able to obtain a new 1 year multi-entry visa from the Savannakhet Thai Consulate. The downside is that you will have to do a border bounce every 90 days.

Multi Entry Non Immigrant O Visa from the consulate in Savanakhet.

No finance needed.

This will give you over a year but would mean border runs every 90 days.

As said you can apply for a multiple entry non-o visa based uon marriage at the consulate in Savannakhet Laos without financial proof. The visa will allow unlimited 90 day entries for a year from the date it issued.

Before going out for the visa you could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife near the end of your current one year extension.

You can apply for the 60 day extension of any of the 90 day entries from the non-o visa as well.

Is there a list of documents needed somewhere? I need to take the kid to school just now, but when I come back I'll look up other guy's Savannakhet visa trips for more info on how to get there and their experiences.

You will need your marriage certificate plus a copy, copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card signed by her.

Just to confirm, I can go to my local immigration office in Thailand and request a 60 day extension that would be valid till near end of February, then can go to Savannakhet to get a new 1 year non-o, is that right? It would be great to move my visa renal date from end of December to something else.

Are these the correct requirements for 60 day extension?

• Take marriage certificate, wife's house book and ID card, plus copies

You might also need a TM.30 form. That is the notification form that the owner, house-master or possessor of the property you live in should complete. Your wife should be able to complete it.

 

Once you have the ME Non ‘O’ visa you can extend any of the 90 day stays by 60 days. If you make an entry using the visa just before the visa expires you’ll get a final 90 days, which can also be extended by 60 days. Doing that gives you nearly 17 months using that visa.

 

And if your financial situation changes you can extend any of the 90 day stays by 1 year as before. As you presumably have a Thai child you can apply for a 1 year extension as s parent and the 400K only needs to be in your account on the day you apply (no seasoning required). That makes borrowing the shortfall from family/friends an option for some.

I thought agents are a plenty and for a fee you don't need to do too much or show finances.

The OP is talking about being unable to extend an extension of permission to stay due to having a Thai spouse not retirement.

the underlying   question seems to be anyone know of an agent  who can sort it out as yet no offers of experiences

I return too the U.K. every 12 weeks and have in the past done an Extension of Stay/Retirement Visa, I missed out on the monthly income letters from the Embassy, I didn’t realise there was a cut off date.

Could I apply for a Multi Entry Non O, I am not married and because I leave Thailand every 90 Days I would be covered for the year and not have to have the 800k in the Bank and do it on an annual basis ?

i currently have a 90 Day Single Entry based on being in receipt of my U.K. State Pension, not sure how many times I could enter Thailand on that type of Visa though ?

That is not the underlying question.

 

The answer for the OP was to go to Savannakhet and get a multi-entry non-imm O visa. This thread has nothing to do with agents. Keep agents out of it.

You can get a multiple entry Non-Imm O based on your state pension.

 

Crazy isn’t it, a 64 year old with bags of money cannot...... unless they go for an “O-A” visa.

Not as far as I am aware, you can only get a 90 Day Single based on in being receipt of the U.K. State Pension and only in the U.K.

The embassy in London will issue a multiple entry non-o visa. The consulates can only issue single entry non-o visas.

I have never read a report of somebody with a non-o visa having problems at an airport.

Correct me if I am wrong to apply for a Multi Entry Non O in London you have to have 800k in the Bank ?

Non-O (in OP's case) is for long stay. So far only reported cases are for tourist visas, including METV.

That is only required for a Non-OA long stay visa. Only proof of being on a state pension is required for the non-o visa.

A multiple entry non-o visa allows unlimited 90 day entries for a year from the date of issue.

Why has no one mentioned a year extension of stay based on taking care of a Thai?  The OP said he had a child.  There is no seasoning for the 400,000b.  He might be able to borrow the money long enough to put it in a bank and get a bank letter.

Some offices push harder to get you to use an agent for a family-based extension than they do for retirement.  It is how I wound-up on a Non-O ME, to spite having the required income, etc - because I refused to reward a particular office/desk with agent-money, after my experience.

 

But for the OP, the issue would be what office/area the he is in, whether it is served by agents and, if so, what the going-rate is in that area.  A 15K-20K agent-fee is not much if any more expensive than the Visa-cost, Visa-Trip, and Border Bounces - and a lot less trouble, especially if the nearest border is further away. 

 

And, if what I read in an above post about "no seasoning needed" for bank-money when applying as the father of a Thai Child, an agent's short-term loan would not even require a senior-IO bypass the normally required seasoning - which is where the "why do they do that for agents" shady back-room deals enter the picture.  The OP's agent and IO would not be doing anything "special" in the process - and thus the application might be do-able for a lower fee.

One year multiple entry versions of that visa are available. It is a great option for UK nationals in receipt of a state pension.

If you leave to do a Savanakhet multi entry non O visa based on marriage, whilst current visa extension still valid for a few days, is it wise or necessary to get a re entry permit first in case you are refused at Savanakhet? If leaving on the day or day before the existing extension expires would I get back in for 30 days on visa free entry as a Brit? Has anyone actually been refused and faced this problem. It seems too easy!!!!
