Move to make health insurance mandatory for long-stay visas

inpatient coverage, yeah require it.  that makes sense.  it also even includes cataracts.

 

not because having to add that stupid outpatient option onto our policies now is a really big problem...... just that it is so dumb. in fact, anyone for whom outpatient coverage is a necessity should not even be allowed in as a tourist and the person must be quite ill or unhealthy as well.  for anyone else it's TOTAL chump change.  it just looks so dumb to require it.  or worse, it looks like a scam of some kind.  

Don't forget. A lot of Thai health insurance companies also require you to buy a life insurance policy. It's only good for about 100,000 baht. Usually, cost another 7,500-10,000 baht a year.

They already incentivized me to not extend my stay when they imposed the financial requirements, to which I was seriously considering just apply for new visa every 2 years in farangland.

BUT, if this insurance becomes mandatory, that would be reason to not extend my stay nor apply for new visa.
