"In the future, if others are caught in a similar situation, will they get away with it if they say they borrowed the items from a friend?” Pheu Thai Party deputy spokesman Wattanarak Suranatyut asked."

Short memory - ask his pal Chalerm what he said when challenged about how he afforded his fleet of luxury cars.

Looking after them for a Singapore business man who let him borrow them as he wished.

Appears to have worked for him

Could? Just how far in the past is he living?

He thinks being a non elected mysteriously appointed red shirt leader and party list MP for a party owned and controlled from a fugitive criminal living in exile through his puppet sister and cronies somehow enhanced Thailand's image with other countries? Self delusion at it's highest level!

This case just one of many dubious cases that smell of selective prosecution. The list is long including Preecha’s appointment of son to officer rank and the nepotism case dropped, Rolls Royce alleged corruption, GT200 case, Suthep’s police station alleged corruption etc etc etc. That also bring into question the Yingluck’s rice scheme case whether it was politically influenced.

Eric. None of the context of the cases are political per se. What's politically influenced is the decisions of who to prosecute, which cases to investigate etc.

The NACC have always favored the anti Thaksin side whilst the DSI under Tarit swapped sided and became a Shin attack dog.

That doesn't make any of those prosecuted and convicted innocent though. It means some others unfairly get away with it.

The reality is, if there was a truly independent agency, investigating all cases properly, they'd be some of the busiest people in Thailand! And they'd be after all!

Its funny how easily this is ignored by people like Eric, he still does not accept that the crooks are as bad on both sides.

“The decision was made based on evidence shown in the case file..."

I wonder if Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan was standing over the shoulder of the person creating the case file, and pointing out his errors. Business as usual in the LOS.

he did not i think they all did.

but if I buy you an expensive wach ,im the owner, no matter i gave it to you , as a presant

thats is what they are saying .

it means corruption is ok if you not spend the money you get by yourself ,as if you receive it as borrowed .

the logic in that must rely on very low education , specially if you do hope that others would think the same.

the picture never changed the last for years, they are not well educated, or able to make money ,they can only do like this.

Easy way out for them is to explain properly. Were recepits of purchase and dates for the watches found at Prawits friends house? Or nothing amd its all a case of Prawit says this and becayse friend is dead there is no rebuttal?

and what is the name of this "dead" friend... no-one has been brave/stupid enough to ask, or interview this friends family.

Exactly. Expensive watches have a full history - I think it's called provenance. Shouldn't be too difficult to publish these to prove his innocence (or should that be guilt?). It's a shame that there is no such thing as investigative journalism here as in the west these documents probably would have already been published by the press.

Excellent point there Shrew about investigation .. Journo's in blighty would have torn it limb from limb by now and toad would have fled or gone into hiding ..

His friends name is quoted openly in the BKK Post as well as the Nation and other news publications, as well as what his tel-communcations business was called.

Think they will ever publish the "evidence" that is in the case file so the public can draw their own conclusion? If not it is a good indication that corruption is alive and well in the anti corruption commission!

They can do that here because the big majority will not say anything and accept it.

If the NACC were honest they will show the letters from manufacturers, easy to obtain for such pricey watches and it doesn't need months to get them. But it's Thailand and nothing will change as long as the majority of peoples don't complain.
