NACC defends its ruling over Prawit watch collection

Featured Replies

"In the future, if others are caught in a similar situation, will they get away with it if they say they borrowed the items from a friend?” Pheu Thai Party deputy spokesman Wattanarak Suranatyut asked."

Short memory - ask his pal Chalerm what he said when challenged about how he afforded his fleet of luxury cars.

Looking after them for a Singapore business man who let him borrow them as he wished.

Appears to have worked for him

  • The NACC is only in existence for two purposes. The primary one is to protect corrupt politicians from themselves when they are stupid enough to leave themselves exposed to accusations of wrong doing.

  • All pals together, not 1 of them can be trusted, not 1 of them would know the truth, even if it was staring them in the face. Close ranks... To hell with what the public thinks, look after our ow

  • The short wide toll bridge between the hiso's and the military. This guy is the epitome of everything that is wrong with Thailand.

Could? Just how far in the past is he living?

He thinks being a non elected mysteriously appointed red shirt leader and party list MP for a party owned and controlled from a fugitive criminal living in exile through his puppet sister and cronies somehow enhanced Thailand's image with other countries? Self delusion at it's highest level!

This case just one of many dubious cases that smell of selective prosecution. The list is long including Preecha’s appointment of son to officer rank and the nepotism case dropped, Rolls Royce alleged corruption, GT200 case, Suthep’s police station alleged corruption etc etc etc. That also bring into question the Yingluck’s rice scheme case whether it was politically influenced.

Eric. None of the context of the cases are political per se. What's politically influenced is the decisions of who to prosecute, which cases to investigate etc.

The NACC have always favored the anti Thaksin side whilst the DSI under Tarit swapped sided and became a Shin attack dog.

That doesn't make any of those prosecuted and convicted innocent though. It means some others unfairly get away with it.

The reality is, if there was a truly independent agency, investigating all cases properly, they'd be some of the busiest people in Thailand! And they'd be after all!

" But time will tell that the NACC did not use emotion in judging this case".

I am sure that they are correct.  I think you'll find they used something more pragmatic, like cash, PayPal or Western Union.

So you want to impeach the current NACC members for doing their job -- to protect the current junta and its members?

Well, guess who would appoint new NACC members if the current lot of toadies are tossed out?

Thailand ! Long live corruption !

The proverbial saying 'power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely' conveys the opinion that, as a person's power increases, their moral sense diminishes.

If the ruling was honest, then why does the NACC need to defend it?

Of course they do.  Was there ever a doubt over Prawit's innocence?

Pretty much in line with junta propaganda narrative BB. So obvious those cases were politically compromised or involved cronies linked to the elites and the military and have been allowed to procrastinate for a long time and hopefully away from public eyes.

Instead of stamping out corruption the junta and NACC has taking it to a much greater level, as mentioned by many others in the country.  With hope, they will resonate with voters during election.

Its funny how easily this is ignored by people like Eric, he still does not accept that the crooks are as bad on both sides.

Gosh, wish I had one of those "Get Out of Jail Free" cards. Unfortunately, I don't, so I have to plough a straight furrow, mostly. Ha!

No one is ignoring corruption on both sides. Just that when you keep repeating it like you do on so many occasions, it came out as disingenuous and fake.

Great news. It just proves that he didn't buy expensive watches to launder money like some on this forum has suggested.

The red shirts are a private organization. One should be more concerned with the fact that the government of Thailand is self appointed, and unelected. Why shoot the messenger, the messenger is of course very right in this case. Let's be perfectly honest bearboxer, this is just the tip of the iceberg. You thought Thaksin and co were corrupt, the current lot are leagues worse, and other than Thaksin and co, absolutely untouchable, as this Nacc "investigation" showed. Yet they did manage to prosecute a former PM of this country, that won the election in an absolute landslide victory on no factual evidence at all.

This agency should disbanded, in this case they were simply told to clear him, nothing more and nothing less. Absolutely disgraceful and unsurprising. One would wish this agency would investigate and prosecute the likes of Suthep for instance, but they never will, as he is one of the good guys, it's really that simple.

Probably too busy trying to frame Thaksin's son.

“The decision was made based on evidence shown in the case file..."

I wonder if Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan was standing over the shoulder of the person creating the case file, and pointing out his errors. Business as usual in the LOS.

he did not i think they all did.

but if I buy you an expensive wach ,im the owner, no matter i gave it to you , as a presant

thats is what they are saying .

it means corruption is ok if you not spend the money you get by yourself ,as if you receive it as borrowed .

the logic in that must rely on very low education , specially if you do hope that others would think the same.

the picture never changed the last for years, they are not well educated, or able to make money ,they can only do like this.

Easy way out for them is to explain properly. Were recepits of purchase and dates for the watches found at Prawits friends house? Or nothing amd its all a case of Prawit says this and becayse friend is dead there is no rebuttal?

and what is the name of this "dead" friend... no-one has been brave/stupid enough to ask, or interview this friends family.

I'd suspect the 'dead friend' would instantly be the one brave enough to ask that question.

Exactly. Expensive watches have a full history - I think it's called provenance. Shouldn't be too difficult to publish these to prove his innocence (or should that be guilt?). It's a shame that there is no such thing as investigative journalism here as in the west these documents probably would have already been published by the press.

Excellent point there Shrew about investigation .. Journo's in blighty would have torn it limb from limb by now and toad would have fled or gone into hiding ..

Expect the election to be delayed. The junta need breathing space to calm down the unexpected backlash from this publicly perceived staged outcome. EC may lend a helping hand.

His friends name is quoted openly in the BKK Post as well as the Nation and other news publications, as well as what his tel-communcations business was called.

All expensive watches have a paper trail. To claim 22 don't is absurd. Looks like the foxes are guarding the chickens.

Think they will ever publish the "evidence" that is in the case file so the public can draw their own conclusion? If not it is a good indication that corruption is alive and well in the anti corruption commission!

They can do that here because the big majority will not say anything and accept it.

If the NACC were honest they will show the letters from manufacturers, easy to obtain for such pricey watches and it doesn't need months to get them. But it's Thailand and nothing will change as long as the majority of peoples don't complain.

Thailand will only get out of the hospital when inflicted wounds caused by dinosaurs heal and dinosaurs are being prosecuted.
