Hi,

I will be applying for a UK Visit visa for two of my step children to visit the Uk.

I have completed the 2 separate applications for each child and booked the appointment in Bangkok.

I have supplied all the relevant supporting documents for each child. My question is do I need to supply duplicate supporting documents for each application or can they use the same supporting docs for both applications? For example, do I  need to provide 2 copies of my bank statements, payslips etc for each application?

Thanks

Easy answer. no.

Visitor Supporting Documents Guide

Section 4: documents you should not send unless specifically requested

This page provides guidance on the types of documents that are not required to consider your application, if you are applying as a family/group you do not need to provide multiple copies of the same documents

I’m sure you have reasons for doing so, in which case the applications will more than likely be considered by different ECO’s, possibly on different days, so you might be safer submitting duplicates to prevent the decision maker thinking the supporting documents haven’t been supplied.
It might have been better if they’d been submitted together so that the decision maker can see the full picture, but I’m sure you have your reasons.

The VFS process has improved this year, you can now upload all your documents online, last year you couldn't do this.

But I'm sure VFS just scan the paperwork in Bangkok anyway don't they? So it means if you do just take the paperwork then you wont need a duplicate. But you will need 2 separate sponsor letters as you made 2 separate applications (you'll need to quote their name, passport and VFS reference number on each sponsor letter).

Are you 100% sure about this, have you, or your partner actually uploaded supporting documents yourselves?

I'm aware that you can upload FLR documents in the UK and also for Australian visit visa applications, but I wasn't aware that you could do so for UK visit visa applications from Thailand, it must be very very recent change which hasn't yet made it to the VFS or indeed the UKVI websites.

Well... it appears not so. I've just been uploading sponsor pack for my gf and a statement pops ups.... "must still bring copies of your supporting documents with you when attending appointment".

What is the point of technology if you still need to print docs out? My sponsor pack is 65 pages long what a waste of money & paper to print them out, let alone the confidentiality of them all.

And the new online changes at VFS are clunky to say the least...

This confirms what I was thinking last night, whilst it's a step forward for VFS, you're still doing the donkey work for them them by uploading the evidence.

I think they still have to examine the documents to ensure that they are genuine, so she'll still have to them along when she has her biometric details captured and hands her passport in, I did wonder it this might be the case when you were allowed to upload them to the VFS website and not directly to the UKVI.
What would be a big step in the right direction is if you could upload the evidence when you actually submit the online application, as I believe Australian Immigration does, but they would need to have sytems in place to ensure falsified documents weren't submitted.

I obviously don't know the details of your girlfriends application but 65 pages does seem an extraordinarily large amount of supporting evidence.

It's because of my 6 months bank statements, have to submit my personal & business accounts. A right PITA.

And on the basis of her having to hand in the pack anyway I'm not going to bother uploading the docs now.
