There is a small typo in your topic heading.

"If" should be "When".

It’s coming. 100% sure of it. Not once in the 10+ years has my visa agent ever told me anything that’s been incorrect about what they can / can’t do and visa policy changes that are on the way, and this is one of them. The only chance it won’t happen is a new government that somehow gets out from under the claws of the junta. Wishful thinking.

You have time to start planning now. Expect a worse case scenario and plan for it. Then when it happens your life isn’t ripped apart with no warning.

Or keep your head in the sand and pretend nothing bad will happen to you if you don’t prepare for the inevitable. Your call.

If you’re too old and can’t get it, I would start looking for a replacement home. Then when you have to leave you’re not left in a panic with nowhere to go. Have your Plan B in order.

that's strange....i inputed age 70 and got a premium of $2400 with a $2k deductible.

check the policy details.  emergency+ is more than just emergency coverage.  i went with the $2k deductible (excess?) per event since medical is so cheap in asia compared to the us.   (my heart surgery in india cost $10k versus $150k in the us!)

i can cover most things out of pocket.  anything that costs more than $2k will likely kill me anyway, then i can use the repatriation benefit.

Use government hospitals, not private one's.

Very affordable.

Thanks for that, I've contacted Healthcare Int. for a quote, taking into account pre-existing conditions - as the online quote is very reasonable, but it doesn't ask about pre-existing conditions.

If the price remains the same (or similar), a two year moratorium is fine by me.

i assume the quote is for comparison only, but is likely to be the actual fee.  the application will have questions concerning pre-existing.  i signed up the year i had heart surgery (valve replacement).  had cardio moratorium noted on the policy first five years.  that has since been removed.

my average increase over 10 years was 8.5%.  there was a no big jump going from 49-50.  2015 renewal letter mentioned previous 12 months global health costs had risen 17.5%.  they made up for it with no increase the following year.

remember i haven't had to make a claim yet so cannot evaluate their payment policies.  customer service has been very good so far......

you will then be directed to khao san lu or some other such specialized marketplace and purchase a medical insurance policy for a couple hundred baht and all will be good.

Everybody should have a plan b like what's in YOUR bug out bag?

Better than to speculate for 11 pages on no announcement.
