Thai Government Vows Proactive Efforts to Safeguard Buddhism
I seen an interview with the Dalai Lama several years ago. The interview was going well until he was asked what did he think of Thai Buddhism. He paused, then gave a grin and said next question please. My wife has 2 brothers who are monks, both are only there because no one in the family wants them as they were both addicted to Lao Kaow. They both had good jobs in construction when they were younger and now they have nothing. I have nothing against Thai the monks, getting ordained it's their choice. I've always wondered where all the financial donations to every wat go to. I seem to think in many cases the fat cats in the temples management are milking the system. In some case the money some people leave to temples when they die is in the millions, -

Pattaya Woman Injured in Motorcycle Crash While Using Phone
Right elbow injured, the phone will have to be in her left hand next time. I see so may on motorbikes riding one handed, using the other to operate a phone.... had one pop around a bend on my side very recently. They shouldn't need to be told that is dangerous. (Quite a contrast to UK where using your phone even while stationary, driving a car, can get you six points). -

Phatthalung: Grandmother missing after saving boy from drowning
I have the greatest admiration for the grandmother who appears to have saved her grandson's life, losing hers in the act - a truly selfless act, but the "suddenly, they fell" description is very vague and doesn't really explain much. The original poster to whom you replied, was correct. How did they manage, together, to slip so easily into the canal? There is an element of 'avoidance' here, such as not allowing herself or the small child to be anywhere near where they might place themselves in danger. But then again, but for the grace of god, who doesn't make an error of judgment once in a while. Most of us do, but usually without disastrous results. Hindsight is a wonderful process. Sad for the grandmother and the family. Hope they ensure the child grows up to remember her sacrifice. -

Labour Faces Tough Start Under Starmer as Local Election Results Highlight Sharp Decline
does that make this not a fact? Since July 4, Labour candidates have secured only 53 of the 150 contested local authority seats, a steep drop from the 75 previously held. -
