Deputy Prime Minister General Chatchai Salikulya would not say directly if the plan to build the controversial Mae Wong dam in order to prevent floods and save the drought-plagued Lower Sakae Krang basin would be scrapped, but he affirmed that concerned parties had at least reached a “resolution” – for now.

TAT paints positive outlook for Songkran tourism in Chiang Mai - but hotel bookings static

Chiang Mai News said that the Tourism Authority of Thailand were expecting more tourists in the north at Songkran but that hotel bookings have failed to reflect this yet.

Drunk driver crashes into Songkhla furniture shop, causes fire

A drunk driver had a lucky escape in the early hours of Monday when he was pulled out of his car just before it was engulfed by flames from the furniture shop in Songkhla's Hat Yai district into which he had crashed. The store wasn’t so fortunate: it was completely destroyed in the blaze.

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain is to set out plans to overhaul its recycling system on Monday, including making plastic packaging producers pay the full cost of dealing with their waste and introducing a deposit return scheme for cans and bottles.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize last autumn after receiving a request from the U.S. government to do so, the Asahi newspaper reported on Sunday.

Decapitated head in river likely from suicide case

Police oppose bail after man’s ‘stray’ bullet kills 14-year-old girl in Buri Ram

Police on Monday objected to the release on bail of a 30-year-old Thai man who had allegedly opened fire twice at a group of youngsters, reportedly merely to threaten them, but whose stray bullet fatally struck a Mathayom 2 schoolgirl instead in Buri Ram’s Lam Plai Mat district on Saturday afternoon.
