camcam3 Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 With the passing of Bill C-79 expats can now vote in Canadian Elections. Please revue the info and register to vote. It is a little complicated but remember ...If you don't vote...Then dont complain... Services available through diplomatic offices Electors who are outside Canada may: · Use the address of a Canadian Embassy, consulate, or high commission to receive their special ballot voting kit. o You must contact the diplomatic office of your choice before you apply, to make arrangements and provide your contact information. o The diplomatic office you selected will contact you once your special ballot kit has been delivered, and becomes available for pickup. · Return their completed special ballot to any Canadian Embassy, consulate or high commission for forwarding to Elections Canada. o The diplomatic office will forward your ballot by courier, free of charge, provided you bring them your completed ballot before their deadline for receipt and transmittal. These services are not mandatory, and electors can still choose to have their ballot kit sent directly to their home address abroad, or to return their completed ballot kit directly to Elections Canada. It is important to note that Canadian diplomatic offices do not process applications to vote by special ballot, and do not issue special ballot kits on behalf of Elections Canada. How to apply We recommend that electors apply online by clicking here. You can also obtain an application: · by downloading the PDF form and printing it from Elections Canada’s website. · by contacting Elections Canada and requesting that an application be sent to you by mail. Please make sure to read the instructions carefully, and to provide all required proof of identification, in order to avoid delays in the processing of your application. Once your name has been added to the International Register, a letter of confirmation will be sent to the mailing address provided on your application.
